This might seem a bit off-topic for this blog, but the snafu that I witnessed Sunday morning on this past Saturday Night Live was anything but comical to me: seeing yet another spoiled, pumped up fake at work on national television and getting paid big bucks for it — but this fake was tragically revealed and her name is Ashlee Simpson, younger sister of Jessica Simpson. You can read details of the incident here.
I think that as a society we had better start learning from incidents where lip-syncing and lying are all too commonplace and where the reaction to such revelations is anything but dire outrage. After the SNL incident the overall impression I’m seeing is one of “no big surprise” and then people just move along. Really, folks, we should start to rediscover indignation as a national characteristic — but it seems we are becoming a country of Salieris, willing to cheat, lie and steal to make ourselves into something people might adore. And if we aren’t guilty of it ourselves, we prop up the ones that do and call it being “in vogue.”
John Kerry reminds me of Ashlee Simpson. Many on the Left remind me of Ashlee Simpson.
Now you get my point for today.
