The author of the book Imperial Hubris has disclosed his identity after resigning from the CIA. Michael Scheuer appeared on Meet the Press this morning.
While I may disagree with many of this man’s observations, I must respect his bravery in stating his position and at the cost of a job he obviously loved and one in which he worked hard to protect this country.
My one key observation would be simply this: people that consistently try to make the United States the cause of all strife in the world will just hand a meal ticket to the Muslims and their fanatical leadership, whether they reside in a cave in Afghanistan or Pakistan or sit on a throne in Saudi Arabia, it’s all the same. The “War on Terrorism” didn’t start on 9-11. It started when a man named Muhammad walked out of a cave of his own with a plan to sway the tribes of Arabia under his black banner of Jihad. It does not now, and will not ever matter what the United States does except whether or not we stand by what makes our culture better and good for the world. To give into fear and appease the false cult of Islam is exactly what its leadership is hoping for.
Westerners that think it better to turn our back on a free Democratic nation like Israel in order to save our own backsides are cowards.
Westerners that believe having fortitude in the face of the enemy is just turning the heat up to boiling are also fools. Do we not police our own streets in order to protect our loved ones from criminal intent?
This war is just beginning and nation-states like Iran, that continue to threaten the rest of the world with reckless sabre-rattling, fascist ideologies and fanatical cultism, will be the first ones to be thrown down by the United States and her allies.
If we fail to do so, our children and grandchildren will live on a shattered planet and I know none of us want that.
