This morning I was reminded again why I have such great respect for Donald H. Rumsfeld, our Secretary of Defense. He came to Meet the Press with Tim Russert, a prepared man.
For a week or more now we have all seen the obviously edited response highlights of Rumsfeld’s from a recent trip to visit the United States troops in Iraq, where he is shown saying:
When you really stop to think about it, tanks can blow up…
Well, old Rummy gave Tim Russert the entire quote on air this morning, live, where nobody could edit him unfairly. It was brilliant and Russert had to sit quietly like the school kid he is compared to an old political vet like Rumsfeld and soak in every word on his own show without interruption.
This moment also clarified for me why I have boycotted the major news networks (with Meet the Press being one of the only survivors for my viewing pleasure) for over a year now: the Press in the United States rarely reports anymore — it pontificates and fabricates instead.
Thank you, Mr. Rumsfeld. I think there are a couple of million viewers this morning that now realize what kind of reporting we are being given far too often in the United States and around the globe: lop-sided propaganda from the Left created to induce higher ratings.
