Brief Time for Reflection

As the holidays approach, I just wanted to take a moment to consider the events of the past few years. I know that each of us, including visitors to this site, have most likely undergone changes, loss, love and more since 9/11. Sometimes it gets overwhelming, othertimes it seems like a fight that will never end and one that we question more than a few times each month, but in the end, I think we all come to the same conclusion: that to give up on the efforts of our soldiers, lawmakers, police and every other person that makes sacrifices to provide our children with a brighter future, well, to give up on them would be nothing short of foolish and cowardly.

Sacrifices have been made for all of us. We must remember this. Ultimate sacrifices. At times, we just want to shout “Bring those boys and girls home!”, I know I do. But then I realize that this would just lessen the sacrifice and send the wrong message to the terrorists.

If you read American history (as an example I am familiar with), you will surely note that there has been no decade in our history where sacrifice was not required and made. It is at times like these that we are tested as a nation, and today, our Western Culture itself is under siege. We have no choice but to honor the sacrifices being made for our own futures by holding steadfast and having faith in our leaders both military and political.

The terrorists will not win. Militant Islam will not prevail.

Enjoy your holidays and have faith.

And do not give up on Hope, for most times Hope is all we have.
