While I am happy that the man behind the Nick Berg beheading and other attrocities is now dead, I find the entire affair to be too little, too late.
I’m going to say this clearly: don’t get too happy about it. Just like some government officials are warning on terms of anonymity, I would say that the threat level of a new attack upon the United States was high before this hunting down of Zarqawi, and now that he’s dead, it is even higher.
The time just seems right for Al Qaeda and their Islamist network of thugs to finally unveil whatever new terror they have been working on.
I wish I could honestly say that Zarqawi’s death meant more, but I can’t. We aren’t fighting one man or even a group of men; we are fighting an entire cult and hateful theocratic ideology called Islam.
When the world finally recognizes that, I’ll dance around my living room.
