First I’d like to say that I’ve found a grievous error in the Blogger system that went unknown to me for the past several months (I’m embarrassed to admit that, but with so little time across Summer to Fall to devote to the Anvil, things slipped), but as of tonight I believe I have the comments working again! My settings were such that there should have been no need for moderation, only for those wishing to post to be registered with Blogger.
However, what seems to have happened is that the postings were being backlogged and awaiting moderation anyway, and to make matters worse, I was getting no email notice of these comments being made — so I had no idea they were even being sent in! On top of that, because I thought there was no need for me to moderate the comments, I neglected to even check that part of my administration tools — until tonight.
Ah, the joys of blogging!
*grumble*
My sincerest apologies to the over 50 readers that left comments and probably were wondering what the hell was going on. These have all been posted now despite the fact that you’d probably have to dig back 1 week to 6 months to find them.
The good news in all this: I’m working harder than ever before on the Anvil and I have every intention of making it meet its potential. The last few weeks have rejuvenated my resolve to fight this ideological war even more fiercely. And to make things even easier for commenting, I’ve removed the registration with Blogger requirement altogether! Now anyone can comment almost instantly — well, anyone human. (We are all human I hope!)
Happy commenting!
(I may bring this matter up with the techs at Blogger at some later time, but if things get to working now, I’ll just chalk it all up to a learning experience and move ahead.)
