Here we go again; terror and subsequent appeasement and denial in the UK. From the AP:
U.K. cops try to calm fears over raid
BIRMINGHAM, England - Police attempted on Thursday to allay Muslim anxieties after a raid in this city in which nine men were arrested on terrorism charges.
The British media have reported the men were plotting to kidnap a British Muslim soldier, torture and behead him, and broadcast the imagery on the Internet — but this has not been confirmed by police.
Some Muslims questioned if the arrests were another mistaken high-profile operation, like last year’s raid in east London during which police shot and wounded one of two Muslim brothers who were later released for lack of evidence linking them to terrorism.
One of the men arrested helped work on the campaign to free Norman Kember, a British hostage kidnapped in
Iraq in 2005 and held for 118 days, according to former Guantanamo Bay detainee, Moazamm Begg, who drafted letters and appeared on television pleading for Kember’s release.Kember was part of a Canada-based group, Christian Peacemaker Teams. The kidnappers shot dead an American member, Tom Fox.
“One of the men arrested actually helped draft my statement to release Kember,” Begg told The Associated Press. “There is an enormous amount of skepticism over these arrests, and I think one of the problems is that there is still a huge intelligence gap.”
The nine suspects, believed to be British men of Pakistani descent, were arrested in homes and businesses in several Birmingham neighborhoods, which were mostly Pakistani.
“This area is now referred to as a hotbed of radical Islam, and it is difficult to undo the feelings that have been aroused in the last 24 hours,” Salma Yaqoob, a member of the Birmingham City Council representing the anti-war Respect Party, said in an interview Thursday.
“It will take a long time to rebuild the trust and confidence after people feel they have been demonized,” said Yaqoob, a Briton of Pakistani descent.
Across Britain, Muslims have expressed concern that they are being unfairly targeted by anti-terrorism legislation following similar anti-terror raids in the past that have not led to suspects being charged or convicted.
On Thursday, police won court permission to question the nine suspects arrested in the Birmingham raid for another seven days.
British media said the alleged kidnap plot — intended to mirror the brutal killings of foreign hostages in Iraq — was in its final stages and was uncovered during a six-month surveillance operation by anti-terror officers in Manchester.
I am reading the word demonized a lot lately, and it’s always coming out of the mouths of whining Muslims who barely utter a word when a non-Muslim is raped, beaten or beheaded. I don’t suppose we can ever expect much else when the Islamist plan is so obviously winning: wear us down, break our will, get us to squabble among ourselves and you’ve got a really fertile field to plant more Muslims in.
I know I sound bitter right now, and that’s because I am. I’m sick of these lying, unapologetic cultists trying to act innocent on one day and then going back into their mosques to plot the downfall of the multicultural nations that open doors to them.
Fifty-percent of Muslims in the UK polled time and time again admit to wanting Sharia Law to rule. That’s hardly a damn “minority of extremists”, is it? Admit it: you’re laughing all the way to the bank at the expense of British taxpayers, and you can’t wait to send your cousins, sons and daughters to Michigan, Arizona, Texas and Virginia next.
The more the Muslims complain the worse it looks for the rest of us. Strike anyone else as odd?
Poor, poor Muslims in the UK. It must be tough having to fear the neighbors that don’t behead you, don’t burn you alive, and don’t bomb you.

They get away with it because it’s a religion. Communism and nazism failed because they did not have this important facet to their cult. I’m all for declaring Islam a political ideology and cult, and stripping it of religious recognition. Ban it, raze the mosques, raze the madrassas. If Muslims don’t like it, leave or be deported. Of course, that will never happen.
I think I see what these Muslims are up to. The British took up “the white man’s burden” to bring civilization to distant parts of the world. Now the “Muslim man’s burden” is merely returning the favor-they feel compelled to bring savagery and backwardness to the British as a token of thanks. I think the British people have had enough of being thanked by now so they can stop already.

A lot of experts, like Daniel Pipes for instance, would definitely agree with what you’ve just stated. ‘Barbarism’ is on the rise; no doubt about it.
Sorry for the delayed reaction - I have only come across your site via Sir Henry Morgan’s blog ( http://sirhenrymorgan.blogspot.com/ ).
I am sorry to say that Britain, along with the rest of Western Europe, is well on the way to committing intellectual, cultural, ethnic and national suicide. Short of a bloody revolution or a Christian Revival such as happened during the time of John Wesley or the Welsh Revival of 1904, nothing is going to prevent our collective Nebuchadnezzar in Brussels and their satraps in Westminster, Whitehall and every public institution from handing our countries lock, stock and barrel to the religion of peace(TM).
@Alfred: First welcome to the Anvil.
Second, I’m sorry to say that I’m coming to the conclusion that violent revolution and civil disobedience will be the order of the day in the West within the next two decades. Most Westerners are asleep to the realities but too many of us are awake to simply allow the “slippery slope” to get any slicker without a fight.
The Blogosphere is the weapon of choice right now, but I somehow doubt that words alone will suffice when Islamists attempt to plant Sharia Law in our court systems, our schools and our workplaces — which in many small cases is already occurring. So, everyone should just think hard on what they value most and decide if its worth the fight, because the war, as I keep saying a lot lately, is already upon us.
Thanks for posting.
