Muslim named U.S. Ambassador to UN

I thought someone was joking when I saw this information for the first time this morning on FOXNews as I was making my breakfast. Sadly, it is true. Amazingly, we replace a capable and classically American bulldog like Bolton with — a Muslim.

Pro-Israel activist Jan Markell says she cannot understand why there is has been virtually no coverage of President Bush’s recent announcement that he is appointing a Muslim to the be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Well, Jan, you’re not alone in wondering. I’m without the words right now. I will wait and see more on this development, but I had to bring it to the attention of Anvil readers, of course, because this story is definitely “flying under the radar” so far.

First it’s a Muslim Congressman, and now the first Muslim United States Ambassador to the U.N., and quite possibly the first American-Muslim ambassador in any function.

Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries, says she had to scour the Internet to learn anything about the man Bush is entrusting with one of the most important diplomatic jobs in the U.S. — Zalmay Khalilzad, a native of Afghanistan who previously served as America’s ambassador to Iraq.

“What it always goes back to is who do we trust in the Islamic world,” the ministry leader contends. “How do we know that they will put the American flag and the U.S. Constitution ahead of the Koran?” By definition, she asserts, a true believer in Islam “cannot put national self-interest above the duty of the worldwide cause of Islam and remain faithful to the Koran. If one is a good Muslim, one cannot represent interests contrary to the interests of worldwide Islam.”

The Afghan-born Khalilzad was educated in Beirut, Lebanon, during the 1980s, when that city was overrun with terrorists, the Olive Tree Ministries spokeswoman notes. She questions whether even a diplomat who follows the tenets of Islam and the teachings of the Koran can be completely loyal to the United States.

In her opinion, Markell says, it would have been better for the United States if former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton could have remained on the job.

I’d call that an understatement, Ms. Markell.

Our leaders in Washington, D.C. need a shuffling of the political deck and they’d better remove the Jokers first.

I was totally shocked to hear Foxnews announce this MUSLIM is taking John Bolton’s place as US ambassador to the UN! Why in blazes did the DAMocRATS in Congress refuse to confirm Bolton? Is it because they might be in league with Islamics?! From everything they seem to say or do, I always have the impression DAMocRATS bow down to Islam while stabbing anyone/everyone not of their slimey political party in the back. I’ll be watching for the beheadings they’re seemingly so admiring of!

YES, I AM VERY ANGRY AND WITH GOOD REASON!

And from the lackluster response of the American people to this news, if they have even heard it, I’d say we’ve got a very long war ahead of us. People are apparently buying the lies that are being put forth by CAIR, the Bush Administration, Nancy Pelosi and others — that Islam is not the threat or the source of the terror. I simply do not know what else to take from this.

Remember when people were so up-in-arms over our ports being run by Islamic nations under contract? That was halted by public outcry. Well, how is this any different in the scope of its betrayal of what should be first and foremost the security of the USA? There is no way anyone can tell me that any Muslim is trustworthy in Congress or Ambassadorial post or the military. History has already proven I’m justified in my apprehensions.

Bush just gets worse and worse the farther from 9/11 we get. Appalling and disappointing to say the least.

    This is truly horrifying.
This really is saying the leadership isn’t looking after the citizens of the USA, IMHO.
Can it get any worse? Stupid question, I know. What of Obama gets voted in and he really has islam on his mind?

Been there, done that already…my home state of Minnesota has shamefully beat this to the punch with Muhammad-Ellison. Gee I think I’ll catch a sharia-cab down to the airport and see if I can confirm my john doe status :)
