And yet more of our most precious resources, our people, are lost or killed in Iraq fighting for a Muslim nation that will never become truly free and civilized and democratic until it addresses its most core beliefs. Only fools think that the Iraqis will stave off the blind rage of Islamists and the machinations of Iran and Syria without the help of the United States, but even with our help, is it ever going to be enough? I have come to the conclusion that it will not. As long as our government keeps playing this game of borders and with the old rule books (that means never identifying the enemy of the United States as Islam), then we can not expect to see an end to this kind of story that we will be happy with.
The AP reports:
BAGHDAD - Thousands of U.S. soldiers searched Sunday for three Americans who were missing after their patrol came under attack in an explosion that killed four of their comrades and an Iraqi army translator. Two bombings one in northern Iraq and another at a market in Baghdad killed at least 62 Iraqis.
The Islamic State in Iraq, an al-Qaida front group, said it had captured several soldiers in the attack, but offered no proof to back up its claim, posted on an Islamic Web site.
The search for the missing Americans began after insurgents attacked a patrol of seven U.S. soldiers and an Iraqi interpreter before dawn Saturday near Mahmoudiya.
The U.S. military said Saturday that five people were dead and three were missing.
On Sunday, U.S. spokesman Maj. Gen. William Caldwell confirmed that the Iraqi interpreter was among the dead and that all the missing were Americans. He said about 4,000 U.S. troops were involved in the search.
Caldwell said the bodies of the three slain soldiers and the Iraqi interpreter had been identified, but the military was still working to identify the fifth.
“Everybody is fully engaged, the commanders are intimately focused on this, every asset we have from national assets to tactical assets … are being used … to locate these three missing soldiers,” Caldwell said.

“but even with our help, is it ever going to be enough?”
You’re (in my opinion) right again. We cannot win this or any other war with the Politically Correct rules of the left. The problem is that we are not fighting by the “old rules” but the new rules. We need a good dose of the old rules like WWII where we leveled Dresden, Berlin, Tokyo, etc and turn the enemies into refugees (lock stock and barrel) and then the can flee to Iran or Syria……Ha! . . . . . stevereenie
Time to get down and dirty. Al-Q claims it has our people-then grab some relatives of known Al-Q and demand the release of those people or else.
Iraq is a craphole. The US can stay there 500 years and it wouldn’t improve the place. These people have the killing sickness (better known to most people as Islam)and until they are cured of it there will never be peace. The best thing would be to partition Iraq but since that’s not likely the best we can hope for is that a strongman will take over and will be somewhat pro Western.
I wonder how many American young men and women are to be sacrificed by the bloody Islamic sword before the USA mandates that Iraq is to run their country by themselves with NO help from the USA! These terrible prices we have paying for some reason most of don’t seem to understand fully if at all, are running out very rapidly. I would like to know why my neighbors must die and be tortured in the most hideous ways in order to satisfy the Blood Lust of Islam! Let them kill each other and leave Americans alone.
If this is true we must pray for these young soldiers.
What has been done to foreigners in the past is indescribable.
This is a new kind of war that needs new kinds of tactics. Gloves must come off and fast.
I kept this post and copied/pasted it from JWDW. It was written by a muslim convert. (I emphasise I didn’t write it.)Some of you may recognise the author.A true voice in the wilderness!

“When are Muslims like you going to start accepting that we must take collective responsibility for Islam’s problems. Not George Bush, Tony Blair or Ehud Olmert. I have no problem with Guantanomo. It is a necessary evil. The laws of war are changing because so are the modalities. To be relevant international law must reflect the changes in these modalities.
Abudallh what is your opinion on the current state of Islam? Is it just fine? What is your opinion on the St Petersburg Declaration? (here ) which brought together Muslims and some ex-Muslims to discuss moving forward and identifiying problems that Muslims must confront.
I encourage you to change your way of thinking, that Muslims and Islam are victims. We are not, we are the aggressors in this conflict. Why? Because our texts tell us so…
