When I read reports like this, I only half-jokingly have to ask: “Who’s been sneaking out of the House chamber and reading the Anvil?” It floors me that this report was practically ignored by the MSM; apparently this isn’t of the importance of Paris Hilton’s pending early release from jail:
The U.S. House of Representatives voted on Friday to prohibit any aid to Saudi Arabia as lawmakers accused the close ally of religious intolerance and bankrolling terrorist organizations.
The prohibition, reflecting persistent tensions with the kingdom after the September 11 attacks on the United States in 2001, was attached to a foreign aid funding bill for next year that has not yet been debated by the Senate. It also faces a veto threat from the White House because of an unrelated provision.
A spokesman for the Saudi embassy in Washington declined to comment on the legislation.
In the past three years, Congress has passed bills to stop the relatively small amount of U.S. aid to Saudi Arabia, only to see the Bush administration circumvent the prohibitions.
Now, lawmakers are trying to close loopholes so that no more U.S. aid can be sent to the world’s leading petroleum exporter.
“By cutting off aid and closing the loophole we send a clear message to the Saudi Arabian government that they must be a true ally in advancing peace in the Middle East,” said Rep. Anthony Weiner, a New York Democrat.
According to supporters of the legislation, the United States provided $2.5 million to Riyadh in 2005 and 2006.
George W., your family’s friendship with the Saudis has clearly clouded your judgement time and time again. I never want to see another Bush in the White House. Ever.
Sorry, Jeb. You did a fine job as governor of Florida, but it’s best you go somewhere and quietly count your oil money and wait for the fat inheritance.
The Saudis are no friends of the United States. If the Saudi people want to prove me wrong, then depose those limp-wristed sheiks that rule you, clear out their harems (blue and green-eyed slave girls first), shutdown the madrassas, and pull the real estate grabbing tendrils out U.S. soil. Ain’t gonna happen.

Aid was considered to a country of the wealthy “privileged few” who drive Bentleys and Rolls Royce’s, fly around on huge jets, gold washroom fixtures and all?
Yep, aid has been going to Saudi Arabia for many years, just like the Palestinians, Jordan, Egypt — hell, probably every nation in the Middle East has profited from American and European financing since the turn of the last century. It’s a disgusting habit that needs to stop. We owe those people nothing and they only repay us with death.
Now that is a start!
Hell yes!!! Never have understood it anyways.
Ungrateful back stabbers.

I was just at a Roger Waters concert the other day. It was an excellent show with DSOTM and songs from WYWH and some other popular Pink Floyd songs. I was a little outraged that it turned to a political rally. I paid $99 to see the show and not to attend a political rally. He blames the Christian right and Bush for the evils of this world. No kidding! He does! It was written flat on the screen when he did the song “Leaving Beirut”. Tell me Roger… was it Christian fanatics who slammed B767’s into the World Trade Center? Or Christians blowing up subway tunnels in London and Moscow? Or they killing innocent Children in Beslan? He has never once condemned suicide bombers or Muslim terrorists. He is becoming a useful idiot.
The music world is like Hollywood: too full of people all-too-full of themselves and far too little education when it comes to the facts involved. Self-righteous indignation is so easy to feign when it comes to war, but if you threatened to take the drugs away or the groupies, you’d have another kind of war on your hands at those concerts.
And believe me, I know what I’m talking about when it comes to this section of society.
I am not a fan of Mike Moore’s, but I think he was on target with the Bushs and the Saudis.
It is criminal to give a country with so much money any foreign aid.
I would like to see more of this. The west needs all the money it can get to fight this menace on home turf.
Each day it gets worse.See piece below. Not only do they have the gall to openly support terrorism, but the message I also get is attempted interference in foreign policy, and rekindling of ant-semitism and societal divisiveness.

Aussie Muslims unite against Israel
Some Aussie muslim extremists have been killed/captured in Lebanon.
The local muslims had a fit when a young Jewish boy went to help the IDF last year. He was killed if I recall correctly. But they are allowed to do anything, of course!
We need to get new people and different people into positions of leadership in the political, religious, legal, media, artistic and social aspects of US culture. If they were already in position on 9/11, then they simply have too much at stake in terms of history and reputation to change ideas and world view at this point.
Think about this… we have 250 to 300 million people in the United States and yet a member of the Bush family or Clinton family has been either a President or vice President since the early 1980s? We need new and different perspectives on things at this point in time. The old guard in any cultural, intellectual or social institution has too much at stake to change their world view. Besides, it goes against human nature to change dramatically once you achieve reputation and some degree of success. History has few examples of this working …
If these ‘leaders’ have been in place prior to 9/11 they need to be replaced in my opinion. 9/11 is a fulcrum of history. We have a fundamental paradigm shift resting on this single event and those who fail to recognize it will fail the people. We need a changing of the guard… all guards. The Bush and Clinton families should be thanked for their service, but shown the door. We need to do this from top to bottom … from local government to the presidency.
