Today we get more news conjuring up visions of madrassahs and veiled teenage girls in our future public school system. Islamic incursions into our school system are happening at an alarming rate (recall this and this and this and this and this). Report from PipelineNews.org:
June 12, 2007 - Those having doubts that New York Department of Education’s proposed Arabic school - Khalil Gibran International Academy - will inevitably turn into a madrassah should consider how a similar experiment in the San Diego Unified School District is turning out.
In September Carver Elementary school [kindergarten - eighth grade] accepted nearly 100 students from a failed charter school which served a Somali Muslim constituency.
The school population now numbers approximately 400.
Though these kids are now being educated within the wall of Carver, they have not been incorporated into the main student population and operate as a school-within-a-school, a segregated elite with special privileges.
The controversy became a matter of public record when a substitute teacher Mary-Frances Stevens made a report to the local school board in which she claimed that Carver’s Muslim children were being led in Islamic prayer by a teacher’s aide. Steven’s, who subbed at the school on March 8 stated that the lesson plan she was given included the allotting of one hour for prayer.
The teacher’s allegation of religious indoctrination led to an investigation.
In true multicultural fashion, the school has gone to extreme lengths to accommodate its new students; the curriculum features the teaching of Arabic - the language of the Quran - single gender classes for girls as well as organized prayer…for Muslims only.
A new dhimmi class schedule - expressly designed to kow tow to Carver’s new students - was instituted. It created an extra 15 minute recess period as part of an hour set aside so that Carver’s Muslims can pray en-masse while in class. Additionally, the school cafeteria menu no longer serves pork or other foods which conflict with fundamentalist Muslim diet restrictions [halal].
Even Carver’s “winter holiday” celebration has not escaped the wrath of this brand of extreme multiculturalism, ripping the heart out of what was formerly the Christmas holiday by injecting extraneous cultural artifacts; as the San Diego Union Tribune notes:
“The school’s winter holiday celebration featuring multicultural performances was a big hit. African-American, American, Muslim and other traditions were celebrated.
“Carver has always been sensitive to the different cultures and always looked at the variety of cultures we have as an enrichment, not a problem,” teacher Pamela de Meules said.” [source “District wants to provide options,” by Helen Gao signonsandiego.com/news/education/20070412-9999-1m12carver.html]
Confronted by an apparent double standard which elevates Muslims over Christian and Jewish students, school principal Kimberlee Kidd attempted to explain, “I think there are so many misconceptions.”
No, sir. There are “so many” appeasing, naive idiots like you in the United States that you make my job finding disturbing reports like this frighteningly easy.
The actions taken by Carver’s officials have made them agents whereby Sharia [Islamic religious law] has been extended into a region of the public domain where heretofore an ACLU interpretation of church-state separation has prevailed.
On that note, the local ACLU is still “considering” its options in this matter…don’t hold your breath.
No kidding. Isn’t it interesting that the ACLU only gets excited if Christianity (or perhaps Judaism) might get “special treatment” in a public place. But if it’s the death cult of Islam, the ACLU is happy to allow “special treatment” because the dirty little secret of the majority of the ACLU is — they are anarchists (and often Marxists and communists) that want to destroy the Republic for which we stand. As long as the influx of illegals and Muslims serves that purpose, don’t expect the ACLU to make a stink.
The unequal treatment on display at Carver is manifest, especially when seen in the light of how requests by Christians who have petitioned to have their prayer needs accommodated are routinely denied by public school officials. It goes without saying that public school cafeteria menus have seldom if ever been modified to accommodate the religious needs of Orthodox Jews who also must not eat pork.
As we have noted in previous articles regarding New York’s proposed Khalil Gibran International Academy [The Khalil Gibran School - Government Funded Da’wa, New York Set To Open A “Public” Jihad School, The Khalil Gibran School - Government Funded Da’wa] Islamists across the nation are taking advantage of and in some cases actually working hand in hand with public school administrators whose hostility to American traditionalism is palpable.
This explains the left’s embrace of radical Muslims.
The latter are intent upon shoving Sharia down the throat of the majority culture and multiculturally bound extreme liberals [which includes many school administrators] are happy to have allies which help them continue the attack on the Judeo-Christian underpinnings of America.

If a Madrassa was good enough for Osama Obama it should be good enough for the good old USA, don’t you think? …..steve
The ACLU is filled with Islamophiles.
Now, if these activities were Christian…

@DG: Thanks for that. I’m going to post that story.
Wow…The ACLU is a great Amerikan organization..unbelievable!!! Why do we put up with this. When you go to the ACLU website, you cannot contact them with email..You have to write a letter… I think I will call… A Christian in Whittier.
as a new califonian teacher this makes my blood boil, will they allow my children to make fire sacrifices that my gods require, most likily not because as of now my faith is publicaly mocked. but this is not why i am posting, what got me is that you called the ACLU anarchist and the communist. they are communist and the founder even stated that he wanted to see the US constitution replaced with a collective government.
but they are not anarchist, that is an insult to all libertarians.
the political map has been rewritten to a more accurate picture, what a will add after this is what i posted on JW reguarding a socialist commentaries of conservatives. i hoped to open the debate more on the fact that there are four major political idealogies and putting anachist with communist does not logically make sense.
oliver, i respect your views and the eliquence of your writing but the political map is not the traditional one of the old days, i.e. a striaght line for those on the left and right. no it is more likened to a square grid. there still are the traditional left and right. But the problem with that formula was that many people got grouped up with other people whom they did not agree with. thus to the up side of the grid is libertarian and below is nationalim/statism. thus in a basic view, the left is for massive government with individual rights, the right is for (traditionaly)smaller government and individual right infringments based on religon.
Heres were it gets interesting, as far as i can gather the libertarians take the individual freedoms from the left and smaller governmet from the right, while the nationalist/statist takes massive government and moral control of individual rights, though not always religous based but can be replaced with dictator cult worship.
Now that we have the map can we give some examples, first the extremes; for the left is communism so we can use Stalin: for the right is theocracy such as iran: for the nationalist are dictators such as musillini: and for libertarians is Anarchy which unlike the others has no tyranny.
I can get into the mixes such as who would be placed in the corners of this political grid but i’ll just say it works as a political diogram.
So why did i write all this, well i now find myself as a hardcore libertarian which gives me a nice lawn chair position on the sidelines watching the left and right attack each other. I just wish the moderates of both political leanings would stop working agianst each other to our enimies gains and come to solutions using comprise. in fact I think this country needs a libertarian pres cause its not in thier nature to be dictatoral{sic}
