There is No Equivalence Here

Just yesterday I had a discussion with one of the brightest friends I know — and as is often the case with such a brain, he is an atheist, believing all organized religion to be fantasy.

While he has a right to his opinion, I took the time to remind him that regardless of how he might feel spiritually about his role in the universe, there can be no denying that Christianity (and Judaism) are a central part of Western Culture, and without these influences we would not be the people we are today.

Sure, our historically superior use of gunpowder and alloy metals gave the descendents of Western Europe the power to control the greater part of the world in the past few centuries, but it is the basis of our LAWS, drawn from such things as the 10 Commandments as an example, that have made things like the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights a fact and not just an abandoned hope lost in the tomes of history. Judaeo-Christian values, and not Muslim hatreds, are what have maintained our humanity and superiority as a culture.

Yes, superiority.

Islam is anti-modernity and a fascist, theocratic, misogynistic and false ideology. There is no equivalence here or ever between Islam and the West. To look for such is to deny the reforms, civil liberties and freedoms that have been fought and died for by Westerners all over the world, for all kinds of people, in order to supply most of us with the freedoms and liberties we take for granted today.

It is not a perfect world, nor shall it ever be, but to not confront the evils before us, will only serve to further the lie that has perpetuated Islam for 14 centuries and help drive what is already a confused globe down into a turmoil that most of us can not even begin to imagine.

Actually, the superiority of the West is overwhelming. Any one could put together a list and see it: alphabet, logic, printing press, calculus, penicilum, modern medicine, ‘human rights’, Roman Law, Democracy, etc. Islam has not contribute much to humankind. (of course, they kept some books, etc, but that is a real joke. How many Newtons, Eisteins, or Davinci do they have. They cannot even feed themselves!)

    But we have 2 problems:

    1. Postmodernism borned with Nietzche and matured by Derrida that tells “every thing is relative” and that “all culture have the same worth.” This ideology has penetrated deeply into the Western Intelligencia.
We are a narcissistic society that reject absolutes that would give us the courage to defend our survival. We are in trouble.

    2. Our Christian and Roman enheritances convinced us that “people are good”, “they mean good”, and we are blind that for Islam “People” means “a Muslim”

With the current attacks from Islam, we will either awaken from our stupor and accept our own greatness, or we will be destroyed by ignorant islamic herds.

I am optimistic with the West; though it will take large pain to movilize our energy to defeat our worst enemy: ourselves.

    I am optimistic because of

    1. Our technology will save the day.
    2. Islam attacked too early. If they had waited 10 or 15 more years, I guess I would move to Montana to await for the end.

Islam is a complete failure, as opposed to the west, just look at Palestine and other Islamic countries. As a matter of fact they blame “us” for their own failures.

Bridgette Gabriel described Islam’s failure quite well in the article below with respect to Israel’s problem with Arab Muslims:

Message at “Stand with Israel” Rally, Washington, DC Statement by Brigitte Gabriel, Founder, President, American Congress for Truth

“At the 40th anniversary of the 1967 war for Israel’s right to exist extremist Muslims continue to wage their war against Israel, democracy and Western Civilization. On this anniversary of the Israeli bravery and victory against a hateful bigoted enemy and the reunification of one Jerusalem open to all people from all faith, let’s pull back the curtain and speak the truth.

The Arab aggression against Israel has remained problematical because the Arab world refuses to accept the right of a Jewish state to exist autonomously in the middle of Moslem Middle East.

At first, this refusal was based on what appeared to be pan-Arab nationalism, and then on Palestinian nationalism. But as a Lebanese looking at it from the ground level and willing to blow the whistle on the hatred that Arabs harbor and teach their children against the Jews, I can tell you that religious hatred, humiliation and resentment and jealousy are the driving factors behind Arab loathing of Israel.

Israel has become one of the most innovative and technologically advanced countries of the world contributing to world improvement in fields from medicine to communications. Israel is a successful, modern, educated, western thinking society in the midst of a sea of Arabic failure, corruption, backwardness and ignorance. Israel’s success in turning a desolate desert land into a blossoming oasis of western culture and wealth, irks its failing neighbors.

Israel stands as a stark contrast of everything the Arab nations are not and cannot be because of their culture. A culture based on a religion whose values suffocate the individual and drowns out human rights.

The reason Arabs in the Middle East will never be able to recognize or accept the state of Israel is because Israel is a constant reminder of their own failure. Israel is the common enemy that rallies the people together so that they forget their misery. Israel, is their scape goat, their reason, their excuse for allowing and replicating their hate and failure. Instead of self-examination and action to educate their population, over half of which is illiterate, it is much easier to teach their children to hate and to blame. It is this life style of hatred and bigotry that stifles creativity in science and technology and stops Israel’s neighbors from developing despite the fact they have the world’s oil wealth under their feet. It is much easier and bearable to put the blame somewhere else instead of facing the truth.

The Arab leaders or a to use a better term, the Arab dictators of the Middle East have done nothing to help the Palestinian refugee problem they created when they attacked Israel in 1948. The Palestinian problem has become these dictators’ side show in order to distract their people from real problems. This is one of the best tricks that the Arabs have played on the world, and they have used it to their great advantage when fighting Israel in the forum of public opinion.

The perpetuation of lies and uncritical thinking, combined with repetitious anti-Jewish and anti-American diatribes, has produced a generation of Arab youth incapable of thinking in a civilized manner. This government nurtured rage towards Israel and the West continues today in perpetuating their economic failure and deflecting frustration away from the dictators and regimes that oppress them. This refusal by the Arab regimes to take an honest look at themselves has created a culture of scape-goating that blames Israel and western civilization for misery and failure in every aspect of Arab life.

It is time to stop the lies, to accept responsibility for their hatred and failure and move on to become a productive peaceful member of the world’s civilization, to take on the export of tolerance instead of bigotry, love instead of hate, peace instead of war and understanding instead of fighting.

May Israel continue to be a beacon of light, democracy and civilization in the Middle East.

    Thank you.”

Don’t look for a western like business savvy operation from Islamo-Extremist nations any time soon, as the artice above demonstrates, they are driven by nothing but hate, period.

There are some very good articles from recognized authors posted here a lot. Worth a peek, once in a while.

Sounder, it’s good having you around here, because it reminds me that not all of Canada is lost in multicultural insanity.

    B. Gabriel got it right. I seem to recall reading that article when it was published and I’m glad to have it reposted in these comments.

    Hello Foehammer,

Your eloquent piece, as always, rings true as indeed does Sounder’s.

Can’t add much more to these, but I will just say that atheist or religious, left or right wing the issue of islam transcends all other views.

The sooner most of our people understand this, the better.

    Hi Foehammer,

Of course nothing good comes from the cult of Islam.

Much good comes from Christianity though. I also know intelligent atheists — though in reality, it does not seem intelligent to deny Christ, at least to me:) . Think about it, if Christians are wrong (which I do not think we are - just saying), what do we really have to lose? But if an atheist is wrong — well, they have everything to lose. I enjoy putting my faith in a loving God and not doubting what He says.
