News out of Ankara, Turkey which makes me quite suspicious. From the AP:
Turkey’s prime minister on Friday laid out a policy vision for the next five years that focuses on pursuing European Union membership and defending the state’s secular and democratic principles.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who won a second term in July elections, also said in his speech to parliament that the government will press ahead with economic and judicial reforms, overhaul the constitution, and establish “zero tolerance” against torture.

It seems that I’ve built-up the Anvil to the point that I can hardly think of anything else to add to it, so now I’m busy refining it. In the past 48 hours I made many cleanups to code, the sidebar, links and fonts, as well as adding a nice statistics display and overhauling the Archives.
In fact, if you click on the Archives right now, you can see what I’m writing about for yourself. Older articles should now be much easier to browse through and locate thanks mainly to a terrific plugin called SRG Clean Archives.

John Howard last night condemned two entries in the nation’s top religious art competition, labelling them “gratuitously offensive” to Christians.
A statue of the Virgin Mary shrouded by a Muslim burqa and a holographic image of terrorist Osama bin Laden that morphs into Jesus Christ submitted for the Blake Prize have drawn a furious response from politicians and church leaders.
It’s the 1930’s all over again, folks, and Foehammer’s Anvil is On the Air!
In line with my passion for history and my awareness of how applicable our lessons from WW II are to our struggle today, I decided to dip once more into the vintage war posters and find just the right fit for the new Foehammer Podcast, especially to represent my feed over on iTunes:

Important discussion at FrontPage between Jamie Glazov and Robert Spencer prompted by the publication of Spencer’s latest book, Religion of Peace?: Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn’t.
This especially jumped out at me (emphasis added):
“There is a logic to why leftist intellectuals support societies that butcher intellectuals, why leftist feminists support societies that mutilate women and why leftist homosexuals and minorities worship societies that barbarize homosexuals and minorities. It’s a death wish based on self-loathing. But perhaps this deeper discussion between us belongs in another forum.”

I did a check of my links from the front page this morning as a simple matter of good organization and I was unhappy to find that all the Regime Change Iran links have died. I’m not sure when this first happened, but they were working earlier this year. The last known posting that I found is listed in a Google cache of that domain and dated March 30, 2007:

The United American Committee, America’s largest educational grassroots organization against the threat of radical Islam, is planning a counter protest on Sunday, September 9th of an annual parade in New York City which in years past has attracted thousands of Islamist extremists carrying signs and chanting for the destruction of America. The parade, titled the Annual Muslim Day Parade, is sponsored by several Islamist organizations deemed by many Americans to be radical and a danger to freedom. Past parades have included such extremists as Ashrafuzzaman Khan, accused death squad leader, as well as Siraj Wahhaj, unindicted co-conspirator of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

It appears official: SonicWALL Internet Security has re-rated Foehammer’s Anvil from pornography to web communications. This would not have happened without the efforts of Anvil readers and my fellow bloggers and 1389 deserves the greatest credit and thanks for discovering this particular censor in the first place and disseminating the needed information to so many people.
I feel that this is not only a Free Speech victory for the Anvil, but a victory for the entire Blogosphere and especially the Anti-Jihad portion of it.
