It seems that I’ve built-up the Anvil to the point that I can hardly think of anything else to add to it, so now I’m busy refining it. In the past 48 hours I made many cleanups to code, the sidebar, links and fonts, as well as adding a nice statistics display and overhauling the Archives.
In fact, if you click on the Archives right now, you can see what I’m writing about for yourself. Older articles should now be much easier to browse through and locate thanks mainly to a terrific plugin called SRG Clean Archives.
You can see a wide variety of Anvil live statistics (i.e. 420,045 words blogged) in the sidebar on the About and Archives pages thanks to the GeneralStats plugin for WordPress. In addition, you will find an Akismet spam kill counter which already registers over 25,247 — and that’s just since January — real evidence of just how popular the Anvil is with spammers of various murky origins and how actively I combat similar annoyances here on the Anvil and in my email.
In addition to all this you will also probably note that the highlighting of links is changed and consistent across the entire Anvil. This is most noticeable in the Tag Cloud on the sidebar.
I also fixed a couple of small bugs that I ran across, but nothing that anyone probably noticed — at least nobody brought them to my attention.
And as if all that weren’t enough, my brand new microphone to be used for my podcasts just arrived! 
I’ll be busy with some recording soon, and I should have a new podcast ready by Sunday as promised.

An interesting idea, but I have plans to create a “Hate Mail” section for the Anvil someday, so I probably will save the best for that.
Faith Freedom does something similar where they keep the lovely Muslim comments so you can see the seething hatred for anyone who so much as brings up any question on Islam or the conduct of Muslims, who in their own view, are a “protected species”.
I can’t wait for those comments. I find them quite humorous-the email version of a note written in crayon complete with horrible grammar.
Nice cleanup job too. I think it’s helping my computer in getting to this site a little better.
