Despite rumors and press postings to the contrary, Iranian President Ahmadinejad is indeed going to appear behind the podium at Columbia University in New York City today. Ahmadinejad will deliver a prepared speech at 1:30 EST and then take part in a question and answer session with the Columbia students.
The sad thing in all of this is that just as many of the students at Columbia that claim they understand that Ahmadinejad is a hate-monger would also say the very same thing about someone like me. Think about that while you’re perhaps watching the live televised coverage of Ahmadinejad or the YouTube copies that will no doubt be posted later today.
I hope that the students at Columbia come away from this that much the wiser, but for some reason I do not have very much faith in this younger generation to be able to sort out truth from fiction. Since the vast majority of my readership here at the Anvil is over 26 years of age, that perhaps is part of my pessimistic attitude in that regard. The rest I lay at the feet of the Leftist professors that dominate Academia in America. Their fault in all of what is destroying the will and minds of American students can not be understated.
Will the ‘Hate America First’ crowd just do the usual song and dance today at Columbia? We shall see.

Gosh, I’d love to be there to meet him and shake his hand*. See, I’m really a nice guy who thinks we should get along with everyone as much as we are able**.
*By shake his hand, I of course mean put him in a headlock and punch out his beady little eyes before snapping his neck.
**By able, I of course mean as much as we can without submitting.
Really now, this guy is on our turf. He is beyond criminal. Our government needs to remove this terrorist threat. It would be easy to do and save us and the Iranian people from having to continue to deal with this guy.
I want a headline tomorrow saying, “Terrorist Threat Eliminated: US Cheers Removal of Islamofascist Dictator.” I do not want a PC headline saying, “Iranian President Honors Columbia University Students With Rousing Speech.” C’mon Uncle Sam, have you lost your nerve? Whatever happened to the patriotic press, anyway?
This guy is a would-be Hitler and needs stopped!
Of course now the media is going to start asking why President Bollinger of Columbia U. “came out swinging” against his own invited guest speaker. Most of us already know that answer: to save face and to protect Alumni funding and sponsorships.
Too bad it’s still going to cost Columbia U., but considering the track record of that institution over the past few years, I won’t shed any tears if monies trickle to other universities. Perhaps a little money might end up in the pocket of a more conservative faculty member somewhere. We can only hope!
Well, I am happy I watched the entire Columbia appearance live because now I know something I did not know before; to wit, there are no homosexuals in Iran.
I like how the talking heads interview the students as to whether or not it was productive to have Mahmoud on campus. I know when I am searching for an answer to a really difficult question, I always go find a 19-year-old to elicit his wisdom.
Re Columbia:
and old saying my late father taught me,”Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas”.
Bollinger just might get a little itchy soon - figuratively speaking.
I just watched excerpts on Foxnews. What bothered me most was that many students applauded the Iranian. Looks like the campuses are quite a mess.
No homosexuals and freedom for women? Well at least those lines drew some laughter.I have seen documentaries showing the prevalence of AIDS in Iran.
On a rather petty note I think any world leader who struts the stage dressed like he does, unshaven or no full islamic beard, doesn’t deserve to be taken seriously for that reason alone!!
Here is David Horowitz’s take on it:

I believe that’s Horovitz.
I believe you are correct! And you, of all people, know I can’t type
What a speech. Pinocchio is still around.
