Open Thread: Protest Against Ahmadinejad

It’s Sunday already? I’m taking a breather today, but I wanted to open up discussions again as usual.

I also want to bring to your attention some protest information for any of you that might be in the NYC area on Monday. President Ahmadinejad of Iran is in New York, as most of you know, and he’s set to be a “Guest of Honor” at Columbia University. This in itself is a travesty and many people are quite upset about it, especially American Jews who aren’t too happy about a man that denies the Holocaust and threatens destruction of Israel on a fairly regular basis.

This is equivalent to inviting Adolph Hitler to speak before the United Nations and U.S. students during World War II. Our Academia in the U.S. have truly lost a good portion of their minds and American Common Sense to the ‘insanely liberal’ process.

The United American Committee also has plans:

UAC is assisting in the protest against Iranian dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinajad’s upcoming visit to New York, and are urging all other organizations in the anti-Jihad Federation to spread the message about the protest to their people to assure that Ahmadinajad has a warm welcome. We have just received word that Ahmadinajad is even planning a visit to Ground Zero on his vacation to the “Great Satan”. He is scheduled to speak at the United Nations building this coming Monday, September 24th. Join the protest at 2nd Ave. & 47th St. 12:00 Noon, rain or shine, to denounce this terrorist Islamist dictator who is defiling American soil with his presence.

WHAT: PROTEST!! Ahmadinajad will be in NEW YORK!
WHEN: September 24th- 12:00 Noon rain or shine
WHERE: New York City, 2nd Ave. at 47th St.

A Harvard professor of law, Alan Dershowitz, said universities must either declare that they will serve as open platforms or articulate clear standards regarding who is welcome to speak on their campuses.

“Bollinger should have said that anybody can speak at Columbia period, but he would never say that. This was an educational moment missed by the university to articulate what its standards are,” Mr. Dershowitz said.

Will he appear to speak or won’t he? I think it’s safe to say that we really won’t know until Monday.

The U.S. Senate Project (an initiative to increase congressional awareness of the nature and goals of jihad) currently has 91 volunteers in 41 states.

WE ARE STILL SEEKING ADDITIONAL CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS FROM ALL 50 STATES, ESPECIALLY THE FOLLOWING 10:

Connecticut
Delaware
Mississippi
Montana
North Dakota
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Vermont
West Virginia
Wyoming

THE PROJECT: We’re looking for people in every state of the Union who would be willing to purchase, from Amazon or any other source, a copy of Robert Spencer’s new book Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is And Islam Isn’t and mail it, on an agreed upon date, to one of the senators in your state. We want to get the book simultaneously to all 100 senators, in order to send a strong message. If we get more than two people per state, books can also be sent to the U.S. House of Representatives.

If you’d like to participate (or you just have questions), please write to me at traehnam@yahoo.com under the subject heading “Senate,” and tell me the state your senator represents, and a nickname. No need for your real name. And I will never share your email address with anyone, not even with other volunteers for this project.

You can also see there the growing list of participants in this project, and the states their senators represent. I’ve also designed a graphic that might amuse. Scroll down when you get to the site.

Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.

Right before each of us mails the book, we’ll issue a press release to media outlets in as many states as possible, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.

One of the project’s volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the Anti-Jihad Caucus in Congress. When we reach the goal of having all 100 senators covered, I’ll call Rep. Myrick’s office and see if she can help. I’ve called several congressional offices to get advice on how best to proceed.

@Kristee: No, I did not catch that interview and honestly, I’m glad I didn’t. That urchin deserves no press time.

@UsorThem: That letter pretty much states the case exactly as it should be stated. It would be a miracle if any of the Leftists in this nation actually were affected by such truth though. They typically ignore such attempts at raw honesty if it endangers their agenda.

Foehammer, I’ve just finished listening to your guest spot on ‘The Gathering Storm’ BTR program. Great stuff. Knew I recognized the name from WC’s announcement of upcoming guest — recall now you had linked to one of my videos about Murtha (I think that was the one). Anyway, just wanted to say I like your spirit, and I intend to make your blog one of my regular stops from now on.
