RESOLUTION
Recognizing the commencement of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal, and commending Muslims in the United States and throughout the world for their faith.Whereas since the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, threats and incidents of violence have been directed at law-abiding, patriotic Americans of African, Arab, and South Asian descent, particularly members of the Islamic faith;
Whereas, on September 14, 2001, the House of Representatives passed a concurrent resolution condemning bigotry and violence against Arab-Americans, American Muslims, and Americans from South Asia in the wake of the terrorist attacks;
Whereas it is estimated that there are approximately 1,500,000,000 Muslims worldwide;
Whereas Ramadan is the holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal for Muslims worldwide, and is the 9th month of the Muslim calendar year; and
Whereas the observance of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan commences at dusk on September 13, 2007, and continues for one lunar month: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That–(1) during this time of conflict, in order to demonstrate solidarity with and support for members of the community of Islam in the United States and throughout the world, the House of Representatives recognizes the Islamic faith as one of the great religions of the world; and
(2) in observance of and out of respect for the commencement of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal, the House of Representatives acknowledges the onset of Ramadan and expresses its deepest respect to Muslims in the United States and throughout the world on this significant occasion.
If you think this is a put on, the amendment passed the House yesterday.
So what is our military doing? They are good little dhimmis-in-uniform apparently, beholden to our U.S. dhimmi government:
Navy imam Chaplain Abuhena M. Saifulislam lifted his voice to God as he called to prayer more than 100 Department of Defense employees Monday at a celebration of Ramadan at the Pentagon.
“God is most great,” sang the lieutenant commander and Islamic leader, in Arabic, as iftar — the end of the daily fast began.
Uniformed military personnel, civilians and family members faced Mecca and knelt on adorned prayer rugs chanting their prayers in quiet invocation to Allah.
“We do all we can to help meet the religious needs of our soldiers,” said Deputy Pentagon Chaplain Army Maj. Alan Pomaville, a Christian, who attended the iftar alongside the Muslim chaplains. “The leadership in the [Defense Department] wants to care for the body of the whole soldier.”
As the Pentagon celebrated Ramadan, the White House is in preparations for an iftar feast tomorrow, said Lt. Cmdr. Saifulislam, who will be participating at the White House events.
“President and Mrs. Bush host an iftar dinner every year because they want people around the world to know how much they respect Islam and the many Muslims living in the U.S. who are free to worship as they want, and are an integral part of our society,” said Gordon Johndroe, spokesman for the White House National Security Council.
With the Pew Hispanic Center estimating the U.S. Muslim population in 2007 at 2.35 million people and growing, it’s no surprise to see the Muslim population play an important role in all facets of government, said Defense Department officials.
Defense officials could not readily provide current estimates on the number of Muslim service members, but said the department works diligently to provide spiritual counseling and guidance to service members of all faiths.

Until now I have been Bullet Republician for many years. Appeasing the enemy is a act of cowardice and TREASON. To see not one “NEY” to we Veterans tells us that our own government is now the enemy. Now President Bush is going to appease Turkey by denying “THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE”. If he does this Marine is done supporting the Constitution I swore to defend.
In case you are not aware the www blogs are alive and thriving. Americans and Europeans are sharing information on the Islamic Jihad waged against Western Civilization. We are terrified in seeing everyday that our political leaders don’t see it.
Islam is not a Religion of Peace. It is a Religion of War until all resistance by infidels are defeated. I suggest you do some blogging and see what is going on in the real world. You can start with Jefferson and the Barbary Pirates.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had that exact same thought. I have family members who fought in both those wars. One in particular–my Uncle Bill, who was like a grandfather to me–was disabled for life as a result of the wounds he received on the front lines on WWI. On 9/11, debris from the Pentagon cluttered his grave at Arlington Cemetery. I can’t describe to you how that made me feel!
My Uncle Bill’s picture hangs in my living room. Every time I hear about some idiotic dhimmitude on the part of the Bush administration, I look at Uncle Bill’s picture and think how his memory is being desecrated. Muslims have turned 9/11 around so as to make what happened that day THEIR victimhood, and various of our leaders kowtow to that inversion of logic. Makes me want to puke.
So a bunch of Muslims attack the USA on 9/11, compliments of the real Islam, and Muslims danced in the streets in foreign lands, lands that the USA had not a foot on, and now Muslims hand out treats on the anniversary of their event.
Our security costs skyrocket, at airports, everywhere, including frisking nuns before a flight, all citizens being delayed and stressed inflicted at the hand of the religion of peace. Such is our burden to bear, for the gift of terror by an evil cult, who must not be dealt with in any strong way. Instead, we are the ones dealt with in ways never heard of before in years gone by.
Now, the whole world grovels to Muslims, from the top down, afraid or too stupid to admit there’s something wrong with that picture, the victims caving in to the enemy, pretending it doesn’t exist, even though the news, the blogs, the videos, in this age of instant communications, show nothing but brutal slaughter from Islam, the same type slaughter that happened on 9/11 that is taken as so so long ago.
Half the population are fools and all of the leadership are ignorant jackasses. No country is immune from it.
The WWI & WWII generation would roll over in absolute disgust.
When our governments don’t listen and we allow them to kowtow to Islamic demands and it gets worst and worst. Muslim polititions get elected, Sharia Law has its foot in the door than it’s time to take back our countries by declaring war against Islam. We then must fight like the resistance militias in nazi-occupied countries. The only problem is that no one has the guts. We must bear arms…

I remember that dinner in 2002. But back then I wasn’t as well informed as to the meaning.
Recently I did some research on the Battle of Badr, the turning point for MTP–when he discovered that militancy trumps pacifism.
