Quite obviously the main focus of the Anvil is Islamic Terrorism and the greater threat of Islamism. This undoubtedly suits the old guard KGB that are hiding in the shadows and it helps the Chinese Communists sleep well at night, too. But I’m not unaware of the “big picture” and the other “bad guys” out there. I’m watching you, China.
Don’t fall asleep at the wheel. That’s bad for your health. Don’t fall asleep at the supermarket either or the local Wal-Mart; check those labels! If you have kids or pets then you are very wide awake while shopping. Could all these bad additives in the pet food just be bad oversight alone? Lead paint and date-rape chemicals in toys? China definitely puts a lower standard on the sanctity of the average life than we do as Americans, but come on now, that’s a little too low, right? What the Hell is going on?
You have every right to be suspicious. You have an even greater right to refuse to buy products ‘made in China’. I know that I’ve changed over to pet food brands made in the U.S.A. only. Is anything stopping you from doing the same?

Like you, FH, I focus on the Islamic threat to our very way of life. But China is up to no good, too. In fact, China has buddied up with Iran.
I have read somewhere they could do major damage by abandoning the $US.
This would have devastating results.
Then I wonder would they do this to the US it it is one of their biggest customers?
You can’t trust anyone. There are too many countries who would like to see the US implode headed by Russia, China etc.
I’ve never understood the “China is our buddy” mentality. They are indeed communist and last time I checked commie Cuba and North Korea hated our guts based on ideology. What makes anyone think that China views the US any differently? They’re launching satellites, testing anti missile systems, expanding their navy. I don’t think all this activity is to counter Burkina Faso.

Us debt is held by many parties and governments China is one of them.
About 25% of the $9 trillion total debt is held by foreign governments. (Japan with $586 billion, China $400 billion, UK $244 billion and oil exporting countries $123 billion).
So, The bad news is, since China owns so much of the debt, if they chose to sell it, it would collapse the market.
The good news, in balance is, if they did that, China would not get face value for it, and China isn’t so dumb as to slit their own throat.
So, China, or any other country would have to think twice before dumping the US, thankfully.
I suppose there are some ‘out of control’ scenarios out there though.

As to damage to themselves, well, China would buddy-up even more with Iran. Should China dump the US dollar, that’s exactly what would happen, I think. I believe such is the reasoning in GWB’s mind.
Good on Senator Webb. This is the advantage of having retired military in Congress. Based on past history, if Rodham-Clinton wins the Presidency, tho, this question will be moot. She’ll give up military technology and secrets to the Chinese for cold, hard cash.
