Things don’t look too good for our hero in Pakistan, ladies and gentlemen. Do you think that the Bush Administration is prepared to do anything it can to keep Musharraf in power and protect the world from Islamist control of real caches of nuclear weapons? You’d better think twice. George W. keeps swinging at windmills or accepting money from Saudi Arabian lobbyists, depending on your perspective. In my case, I think old George is a clueless nitwit who walks the fine line of becoming a traitor out of criminal ignorance of Islamism. Someone should remind our President that he took an oath.
The White House called emergency rule “very disappointing.”
“President Musharraf needs to stand by his pledges to have free and fair elections in January and step down as chief of army staff before retaking the presidential oath of office,” spokesman Gordon Johndroe said.
The United States however said there was no plan to suspend military aid to Pakistan.
China, one of Pakistan’s closest allies, expressed concern and said it hoped stability could be maintained. Pakistan’s neighbour and nuclear rival India expressed “regrets”.
There goes the Bush Administration again, with this crazy rhetoric that free elections in the Muslim world somehow free the people from the rule of Islamic law. Military control by Musharraf in Pakistan is the only thing that has stopped an ‘Islamic Bomb’ from becoming a reality. If Musharraf has to maintain power and control through force, then we had better support him 100%. The alternative is yet another madly unstable regime, this time under the rule of Muslim clergy and they WILL have nuclear weapons.
I think I gave Musharraf 3 1/2 years to survive in Pakistan the last time I mentioned it over at JW comments, and that was about 4 months ago. Should I now give him 3 1/2 hours or 3 1/2 months? I suppose it all depends on what news reports you’re reading this morning…
From Forbes.com (hat-tip: Michelle Malkin, where by the way, registrations for comments are open again for a limited time. I signed up this morning.):
ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s government on Monday denied rumours sweeping the country that the deputy army chief had placed military ruler President Pervez Musharraf under house arrest.
‘This is not true. There is no truth in it. He is at Aiwan-e-Sadr (the presidential palace) and has met with foreign diplomats,’ a senior government spokesman told Agence France-Presse.
Musharraf imposed a state of emergency on Saturday citing spiraling militancy and a hostile judiciary, in a move that came as the Supreme Court was due to rule on the legality of his October 6 re-election as president.
Musharraf had tipped vice chief of army staff Ashfaq Kiyani to take over his military role after pledging to hang up his uniform before being sworn in for a second term.
That step was expected by November 15, the end of his current term, but was pending the Supreme Court judgement on the whether his election victory was valid.
Get ready for a Pakistan without Musharraf. If we didn’t learn from what happens when a military dictator is removed from an Islamic nation in Iraq, then we deserve to have a bigger mess on our hands soon enough in Pakistan.
B-O-O-M!

This is some scary stuff. As much as I disagree with Mushy Raff’s relatively soft handling of the Islamaniacs over the years the alternatives are worse. And the entire West (not just Bush) is indeed stupid- ideally, it would be nice to have democracy everywhere in the world but let’s face it, Islamania would eat it for breakfast with one gulp. Unfortunately, some places are better off without experiments in democracy-such as the entire ummah. Perhaps some day, if the Ummah junks the Koran, experiments in democracy might actually work. But until then, the iron fist of the military is somewhat more palatable than rule by sharia.
Bush is indeed a moron. Does Bush want the jihadists to be democratically elected like in Paliland?
Bush’s last 4 years of foreign policy of running around in circles, making alot of noise & rumblings about fighting “terror” [like the act of terrorism is the root problem in and of it’s self] has set this situation up. He is not dealing with Islam directly, he’s too busy tip toeing through the politically correct tulips…pandering to Muslims while fighting the purest manifestation of commitment to Islam. The results??? No real victories against the Jihad element, and now they are in a very good position of seizing control of 21th century WMDs.
The writing is on the wall.
[and it doesn’t say this is only a mild warning of coming disasters]
It’s probably a miracle that Mushareff is still alive!
Having said that I really think that any of the west’s allies who hail from muslim countries are,in fact, no such thing.
When push comes to shove they will unite.
I also don’t think democracy is ever going to work in any islamic country and we should stop trying to establish it there.Turkey will surely revert back to sharia.
It only makes us look bad, and they don’t appreciate it.It costs us lives and money.
They are too tribal to cope with such sophistication and it goes against sharia so why bother?
Gramfan,
You are always right on target. Must be the Aussie in you.
tgusa
Thanks mate

OT my horse came second
Won’t make back my investment. Oh well,,there’s always next year.
BTW Emirates is now the biggest sponsor. Talk about creeping sharia!
Gramfan,
Sorry to hear that.
The Emirates? I thought fun was haram.
tgusa
you know what hypocrites they are. The gulf states love horse-racing, especially the jockies, lol!
Emirates is a favored airline here: Good service, cheap business-class fares, and the likelihood of being hijacked is much diminished!
I have never flown with them, but my son has..oh well,,I can but try…:(
Gramfan,
Hijackings down, well that’s a freaking relief!
Boy jockeys? Are you kidding me? I thought they were ‘holier’ than thou. We want to talk about contradictions, there it is.
