What Do Muslim Gays and Non-Muslims Have in Common?

From the New York Times:

SAN FRANCISCO — About 15 people marched alongside the Muslim float in this city’s notoriously fleshy Gay Pride Parade earlier this year, with various men carrying the flags of Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine and Turkey and even Iran’s old imperial banner.

While other floats featured men dancing in leather Speedos or women with scant duct tape over their nipples, many Muslims were disguised behind big sunglasses, fezzes or kaffiyehs wrapped around their heads.

Even as they reveled in newfound freedom compared with the Muslim world, they remained closeted, worried about being ostracized at the mosque or at their local falafel stand.

“They’re afraid of the rest of the community here,” said Ayman, a stocky 31-year-old from Jordan, who won asylum in the United States last year on the basis of his sexuality. “It’s such a big wrong in the Koran that it is impossible to be accepted.”

For gay Muslims, change may come via a nascent body of scholarship in minority Muslim communities where the reassessment of sacred texts used to damn homosexuality is gaining momentum.

Here’s an idea: Why don’t we damn Islam and toss the whole thing out with the bath water? That would save the gays and the rest of us a lot of trouble. Hey, for once the gay agenda might actually do the rest of us a world of good — if it evokes the sort of change that can either alter, reform or destroy Islamic dogma, then bravo!

Women, blacks, Christians, Jews, Hindus and homosexuals have all come under hateful persecution by Muslims throughout the course of history. We don’t have to walk in a rainbow parade to be together on this point.

I found this line from the article particularly interesting unfortunately, because it has the context of blaming the West again. Be wary, because even Muslim gays may not be your allies if they are seeking only to alter Islam enough to pave the way for themselves and continue the life of Islam in our midst so that the indoctrination may continue. I am very alert to all possibilities: Trust no one.

Rafique and others argue that homosexuality became criminalized only under European colonialism.

I think you’d better blame the sheep “herders” and Muhammad first, Rafique.

In Christianity many things are a sin. Christians believe none are without sin that’s why Jesus died on the Cross to wipe our sins away through his blood and belief in his message, the good news… If a murderer can be forgiven so to can a homosexual. However, the punishment for sin in islam is death and not necessarily by the hand of God. You see, they are all mini gods, they run round deciding for god what and who should be punished, the bad news. Hmmm. That doesn’t sound like any God I have ever heard of. Good luck with the islamists I say but don’t come crying to us when they start butchering homosexuals here. They had the chance and showed they are mentally incompetent. Prior to 1976 homosexuality was considered a mental disorder and from what I see it might just be the truth. At this sicko rally they sold religious sex toys, Jesus, Buddha and a few others but no Mo, I wonder why not? Did you know that the miller beer sponsored rally, pictures taken there, were rejected as obscene, pornographic, etc. when sent to miller brewing website? Yep, too vulgar to send over the net but not vulgar enough to do in the streets.

“What Do Muslim Gays and Non-Muslims Have in Common?

Both are to be persecuted, as ordered in the Butcher’s Manual, the Koran.

How to serve man. It’s a cookbook! This all truly is straight out of the twilight zone, the koran, the islamists, the fools, don’t you think? I have been thinking that way since my early days of anti islamist activity, now I am sure. What do Homosexuals and Muslims have in common? The two polar opposite groups are a protected class via congress. It reminds me of the line in Blazing Saddles (improvised) The Mayor says, we will give some land to the homosexuals and the islamists, but we wont take the Christians!

    Reminds me of this article:

If Islam Takes Over Their Panderers On The Left Are Going To Be Very, Very Disappointed

BTW, every Anvil fan who isn’t already on StumbleUpon should be! It’s great for building traffic for any articles or blog posts that you like. You can send the article links around to your friends on StumbleUpon and, if they like them, they’ll circulate them further. But since everything is ‘a la carte’ - much like Twitter - you don’t get the general nastiness you find on Digg.
