Changing Gears in the New Year

Foehammer PodcastIn January of 2007, I promised to give the Anvil more fuel than I had ever fed it before. I know that I have been true to my word in that regard. However, I also said that by December I would have some tough choices to make based on the success of this project. The Anvil has been more successful than I honestly anticipated; it has proven beyond a doubt that one man or woman can still make a difference in this confused and crazy world. Yet, I can not honestly say that it has been enough for me.

When You’re Right, You’re Right

I agree with the following analysis completely. The source doesn’t matter; when you’re right, you’re right (emphasis added).

While there is no conclusive answer to who killed former Pakistani prime minister Bhutto, so far the only claim of responsibility has come from an Al Qaeda leader in Afghanistan, who posted the claim of responsibility on an Italian Web site. Al Qaeda posted the following message: “We terminated the most precious American asset which vowed to defeat the mujahideen. (holy warriors)”

Benazir Bhutto Assassinated

Benazir Bhutto has been assassinated in Pakistan. I will be returning to Jihad Watch comments a little more over the next and future days, starting today; something I have let slide for many weeks. I’m beyond outraged with the state of this world. I think it’s time to start barking louder and I might as well get back to my roots to do it.

Here’s a taste of my sentiments this morning.

Open Thread: Merry Christmas

Firefox 2

Yes, Merry Christmas, not Happy Holidays. It still means “good tidings and joy” no matter what religion you cater to, so that’s how I type it today. Merry, merry Christmas!

I’m reminded today to look at things through the rose-tinted lens for a change. Things could be better for any of us; who’s ever completely satisfied, but this is no reason to grumble. God knows the state of the world could be better, but we do what we can to improve that, too. So, be happy this week. Enjoy the time with your friends and family and if for some reason you can’t be with any of those, then enjoy the time with your own happy memories and that will sustain you.

Peace.

41 Percent of Al Qaeda fighters in Iraq are Saudis

I just heard the most predictable factoid: 41% of Al Qaeda fighters in Iraq are Saudi Arabians. Apparently record keeping by some Al Qaeda higher-ups has been captured by the U.S. military and careful records have revealed a detailed accounting of the social and regional makeup of the Al Qaeda operatives inside Iraq. Many of these Islamic terrorists are being recruited directly off of Islamic college campuses across the Middle East and around the world. This, again, is quite predictable.

Criticism of Obama’s Muslim background is absolutely justified

Senator Bob Kerrey is getting a lot of flack for his comments recently while endorsing Hillary Clinton. Kerrey’s “error” was trying to approach Barack Hussein Obama’s Muslim heritage in any way, shape or form, because the politicos out there will jump all over that out of ignorance and fear no matter what Kerrey’s intent was, positive or negative.

Jihad News Feeds back online

Unfortunately, I was not aware until just this morning that my Jihad News Feeds site had gone off-line due to server error. It was down for two days but is now back and working and I am hopeful it will stay that way. If you are unfamiliar with Jihad News Feeds, it is a little project I tossed together to help organize each day’s news related to Anti-Jihad, Jihad, Islam and Sharia. Bookmark it today.

Endorsement is the Question

I listened to Hillary Clinton and Fred Thompson interviews on this morning’s early news. It got me to thinkin’. Who the heck is truly qualified to run this dog and pony show when Bush gives up the reigns? There are more candidates this time out of the gates than during the last two campaigns, but I still am left lukewarm to all of them. So, I think I’ll get a little help from my friends.

Please enter your anonymous vote below. Think hard; like Winnie the Pooh. “Think, think, think!”

I will be endorsing some candidate early next year. This poll may or may not sway me, but who knows? It certainly can’t hurt.

No, I’m not dead, I’ve just been very busy and the Anvil has had to take a backseat to my outside obligations for a change. For instance, I had to take one of my pets in for surgery and he requires pain medication regularly; that sort of obligation. Not to mention the holidays are here. We all understand the extra burdens and stress this “festive” time of year can bring up. Ah, to be a simple child again…

Atlas Shrugs: NIE ‘a work of fiction’

Ahmadinejad and KhomeiniAtlas Shrugs brings to light this morning information that proves that you do not always need to know all the facts to know when you are being lied to. My suspicions from just the other day about the validity of the NIE reports are being proven correct. Honestly, should anyone be very surprised?

The evidence continues to mount that this NIE was a work of fiction. Critics from across the political spectrum have voiced skepticism about its conclusions and its methodology; European allies doubt its accuracy, the International Atomic Energy Agency (which normally “sides” with Iran) has raised serious objections. The only parties that seem to trumpet the NIE report are Iran, Russia, and China-our foes.

Removing John Bolton from the United Nations was one of the dumbest political decisions to come out of D.C. in recent memory. Just like removing the bulldog Bolton from a job that he was doing so well, the National Intelligence Estimate is yet more smoke and mirrors in the same effort to hide the grim reality that our enemies are closing in and we are doing too little to stop the worst of futures from one day slapping us across the face. At least when that slap finally lands, we won’t have any more excuses to not pay better attention.

Read more and follow the links.

Open Thread: Ho, Ho, Ho!

Muhammad and a smileWell, as a stint of jury duty approaches, it appears that I will not have as much time as usual to devote to the Anvil this coming week, so postings will slow down. Of course, they’ve slowed down already. My apathy is growing steadily, but maybe that’s just the holidays?

Ho, ho, ho!

Oh, wait, can I get arrested for laughing like Santa Claus? Or fired?

It’s a good thing I’m the boss around here.

This thread is now open.
