I joined the masses who are buying guns and ammunition this past weekend. I’d never owned one before. It was odd going out and purchasing these things. I’m starting a gun safety class then I’m scheduled to begin a target practice group in January. I’m looking forward to it as is my husband and 2 sons and my son-in-law. A family that shoots together stays together I’ve always heard.

Good for you. At least you (still) have that freedom in the US. Over here (NL) you can only buy a gun when you’re registered at a shooting range, and you’re not allowed to carry it in any useful fashion outside of that range.
This is the root of the statement: “In a land where guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns”.
Hope you won’t need them, though, not for that. But at least, you can be prepared.
