I caught an interview with Lt. Michael P. Murphy’s family on FOXNews this morning and then discussed the honor being bestowed upon Murphy with one of my own ex-SEAL friends. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that this Medal of Honor is well-deserved. Bravery the like of which is displayed by our uniformed men and women each and every day is without true measure, so medals will have to do, especially when these soldiers make the ultimate of sacrifices. Murphy typifies the fighting spirit of the United States Armed Forces.

This Associated Press report was just too brutal in its reality not to cross-post. (Thanks to Jihad Watch.)
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Taliban militants hanged a teenager in southern Afghanistan because he had U.S. money in his pocket, and they stuffed five $1 bills in his mouth as a warning to others not to use dollars, police said Monday. Taliban militants elsewhere killed eight police.
The 15-year-old boy was hanged from a tree on Sunday in Helmand, the most violent province in the country and the world’s No. 1 poppy-growing region.

Most of us believe by now that Iran has been meddling to the point of warranting a Declaration of War from the U.S. Congress. This Iranian meddling has been proven by continued uncovering of evidence in Iraq, but did you know that Iran is also arming the Taliban in Afghanistan? Certainly we are in a state of war with Iran. American and Coalition soldiers are dead because of Iran. Many innocents as well. I put the blood of those recently murdered North Koreans squarely on the hands of Iran as much as the Taliban after seeing more and more reports such as this one:
Climb on board and take a drive through the Khyber Pass that links Pakistan and Afghanistan in this exceptional video. Ancient Heroin routes, Darra tribes and the largest illegal arms market in the world are unveiled right before your eyes.

A recent story in the Atlanta Journal Constitution reminded me of a brief interview I saw with Newt a day ago. There are important messages here from Gingrich. Pay close attention and read between the lines:
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Thursday the Bush administration is waging a “phony war” on terrorism, warning that the country is losing ground against the kind of Islamic radicals who attacked the country on Sept. 11, 2001.
Do you believe this report? If it’s true, what does it say about what our soldiers are being taught about this conflict? From EurasiaNet Civil Society:
An Afghan newspaper, cited by the Reuters news agency, reported on July 26 that two U.S. soldiers have converted to Islam and got married in Afghanistan.
The “Hewad Daily” reported that the two soldiers are stationed at Bagram Air Base north of Kabul, the center of U.S.-led operations in Afghanistan. An unidentified U.S. military spokesman said he is working to verify the account, but added that freedom of religion is a protected right under the U.S. Constitution.
Bad news from My Way News:
The bullet-riddled body of a South Korean hostage was found by police Wednesday in central Afghanistan after a purported Taliban spokesman said the militants had killed one of the captives.
The male victim had 10 bullet holes in his head, chest and stomach, and was discovered in the Mushaki area of Qarabagh district in Ghazni province, said police officer Abdul Rahman.
The Taliban spokesman said earlier that the hostage was was killed because Afghan authorities hadn’t met their demands to release other militants from prison.
