An Exercise in Futility and Dhimmitude

Today yet another so-called Mideast Peace Summit begins. It’s been a few years since a U.S. President has attempted to see something like this through, but it hasn’t been long enough that I have forgotten the previous results and so I will go out on a limb here today *coughs* and predict the outcome.

Nothing good.

Ladner: What it really means to be Islamophobic

It is so refreshing to come across an op-ed piece from a college writer that actually aligns with my own way of thinking. This morning I am cross-posting such an editorial from over at Tufts Daily by an International Relations major named Matthew Ladner (links and emphasis added). Mr. Ladner takes to task the notion that Islamophobia is a fairly diagnosed condition and proves in just enough words that we all have a right to hold Islam suspect if we feel justly threatened by Sharia Law and the like.

U.S. Military Review of Islam in 1946

I have read this material before, but Marc Schulman of The Moderate Voice has introduced it again, so I was prompted to host the 1946 U.S. Military Review directly here on the Anvil as a result. What follows Schulman’s introduction should be required reading:

23 years before the Iranian Revolution and 55 years before the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a section (pages 24-34) of the very first of the intelligence reviews published by the Military Intelligence Division of the U.S. War Department identified Islam as a threat to world stability. It would be interesting to know how many of the higher-ups in our intelligence agencies and Defense Department were even aware of this report when the hijacked planes slammed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the Pennsylvania ground.

U.S. targeting Islam, many Muslims in poll say

Amazingly, no matter how much we perceive that our governments are appeasing Muslims and denying the global conflict with Islam, the Muslims themselves are hellbent on portraying themselves as victims again. Propaganda is well utilized by our Islamic enemies, I’ll give them credit where it’s due. They are masters of deceit and wordplay, playing possum and playing the martyr. It’s worked for Islamists for centuries.

Unfortunately, it won’t work forever and I certainly mean to be a part of that cure. Truth shall prevail and Islamofascist scum can cry more.

Oh, my! Did I just offend someone?

Some more lies, damn lies and statistics for this week:

WASHINGTON — Majorities in Egypt, Morocco, Pakistan and Indonesia say undermining Islam is a likely goal of U.S. foreign policy and many are unconvinced that Al Qaeda committed the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, according to a poll released Tuesday in Washington.

The survey by the University of Maryland’s Program on International Policy Attitudes questioned 1,000 or more people in each country. A majority of those surveyed in Morocco and in Indonesia, which has the largest Muslim population of any country, said it is a goal of the U.S. war on terror to “spread Christianity” in the Middle East.

“While U.S. leaders may frame the conflict as a war on terrorism, people in the Islamic world clearly perceive the U.S. as being at war with Islam,” program director Steven Kull said in a statement.

Well, look at that — many Muslims and I have something in common. Who’d have thunk it? But who started this war if it wasn’t Muhammad? Answer me that, honest Muslims. I think they need to stop with the half-truths. The war isn’t just between Islam and the United States. If it was there wouldn’t be bombings in the Philippines, India, Spain, England, Africa, et al. Really, Islamists, your continuing audacious twisting of the truth is bordering on a mass comedy routine.

Since 9/11, President George W. Bush has maintained that the United States targets only those who commit violence in the name of Islam, not the religion itself.

In Egypt, 92% of those surveyed said they believe it is a probable or definite U.S. goal to “weaken and divide the Islamic world.” In Morocco, 78% of those questioned said they agreed, as did 73% of those in Indonesia and urban Pakistan.

Only 28% of Egyptians, 26% of Indonesians, 35% of Moroccans and 2% of urban Pakistanis said they believe Al Qaeda was behind 9/11, the poll found.

Thirty-eight percent of Egyptians blamed the United States or Israel for the attacks, as did 20% of Indonesians, 31% of Moroccans and 28% of urban Pakistanis.

Conducted between Dec. 9 and Feb. 15 using in-home interviews, the surveys have a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points, except for Pakistan, where the margin is 4 points.

While urban and rural people were polled in Morocco, Indonesia and Pakistan, the survey didn’t report findings from rural Pakistan because people there were unfamiliar with many of the issues in the survey, according to the pollsters.

Spreading Christianity in the Middle East was probably or definitely a U.S. goal, said 67% of Moroccans, 64% of urban Pakistanis and 61% of Indonesians.

The survey group said it wasn’t allowed to ask the question in Egypt.

Barbarism. That’s what we are faced with. Beware any people that seek to kill you in the name of “God”, especially when God has nothing to do with it.

‘I Cannot Say Where This Hatred Comes’

So, Christians in Egypt dare to raise a cross into the air during a funeral march and this is what happens:

ALEXANDRIA, Egypt - In temporary offices near the Virgin Mary Church in the Asafra neighborhood here, Father Bejimey Shawky catalogs the damage the Muslim rioters wrought.

First they smashed his church’s windows. Then they unhinged the rear door.

U.S. Obtains Treatise By Bin Laden Deputy

Bin Laden and his cohorts once again make things quite clear for the rest of us, if only we would pay attention. From the Washington Post:

By Robin Wright
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, October 7, 2005; Page A20

The United States has obtained a letter from Osama bin Laden’s deputy to the leader of Iraq’s insurgency that outlines a long-term strategic vision for a global jihad, with the next phase of the war to be taken into Egypt, Syria and Lebanon, according to U.S. officials.

Pressure on Vatican Attempts to Rewrite History

Islam has succeeded, for the most part, in convincing the modern world that the Crusades were some mad design by the ancient West and that Westerners have no right to the Holy Lands. How is it that we Westerners seem to swallow these lies, especially when you consider that Christianity and Judaism predate Islam by many centuries? Now, once again, Islamic leadership is attempting to further change the historical facts by asking for an official apology from the Vatican for the Crusades.

Extremists Warn Against Muslim Troops

I hardly need to make this clear to those who frequent this site or any of my links, but it does merit pointing out how clearly Muslims themselves give the world examples of their intolerance for other civilizations and cultures without even worrying about criticism.

While the United States of America is finally looking for some cooperation from the Arab-Muslim world in the rebuilding and protection of Iraq, demands are being made by those who never themselves saw fit to intervene on behalf of their Muslim brothers in Iraq against the Stalinist monster named Saddam Hussein. The audacity of these nations is amazing.

Arrogant to the End

I doubt anyone is surprised by the overt arrogance that is still starching the pants of Saddam Hussein. Let us not forget that this man is a study of Stalin and Hitler and he was trained in an Egyptian law school.

He knows his days are over, but he’ll use these last hours as a forum whenever possible. I think it’s important that we not give him a forum and allow him to become the new focal point of Iraqi politics, but the United States probably has only limited influence on the Iraqi run court proceedings.
