For years now I have warned over and over that our continuing ignorance of history as a people would come back to haunt the United States. Our leaders insist that Islam is a peaceful religion and that only Al Qaeda and “radical Islamic extremists” (thanks for that extreme phrase, John McCain) are to blame for Islamic terrorism. But I pay attention to history and this is why I won’t shut up.

Today yet another so-called Mideast Peace Summit begins. It’s been a few years since a U.S. President has attempted to see something like this through, but it hasn’t been long enough that I have forgotten the previous results and so I will go out on a limb here today *coughs* and predict the outcome.

The following article typifies the heightened arrogance and confidence of the Islamic world. I have noted this change in the wind for several months and I can’t really blame the Islamists for rattling their swords ever louder; there is almost nothing standing in their way. The Muslims are moving against the non-Muslim world by exploiting our own sentimentalities, weaknesses, guilt-complexes, economic and political systems, education, the World Wide Web, bookstores, lobbying, fake charities and more. Now the Islamists are even confident that Israel itself will one day become a new part of the Islamic Caliphate:
When Mahmoud Ahmadinejad lies to an audience at Columbia University and states that “there are no homosexuals in Iran” it isn’t the lie that matters, it is the persistence with which he tells such lies. When Mahmoud Ahmadinejad refuses to answer “yes” or “no” to a simple question — “Did the holocaust happen?” — it is the opportunity for him to call out for “justice” for the “Palestinian people”, all in the hopes of making more people forget that the Jews have a right to own their own nation, and in hopes of making people believe that there ever was a nation called Palestine (which there was not).

Now, who is feeling stupid for continuing to not do as I have advised for at least three years? Attack Iran’s nuclear facilities now, and then quickly focus our energies onto Syria until they relinquish out of raw terror of presented U.S. might and cough up whatever new toys they might have. As for North Korea, now I am seeing why they are misleading us with still more lies — they have been proliferating nuclear technology to our worst enemies with hopes at getting more extortion money and then will simply return straight to form once the shooting wars with Islamists begin in earnest. This is a mess. There have been many warning signs.
Islam has this nasty little habit of laying claim to things that don’t belong to it. It started with God, the angels Gabriel and Michael, and then ultimately Jesus, Mary and parts of Judeo-Christian doctrine. Then it turned into war for land and the ousting of non-Muslims from Arabia, the enslavement of Christian and Jewish women and children and the slaughter of their men. But that was all just Muslim foreplay in comparison to what some of their modern “scholars” and clergy want the Islamic world to believe today.

2 CommentsItalian Premier Romano Prodi said Monday that Iran must be prevented from acquiring nuclear weapons and called on Gazas Hamas rulers to release a captured Israeli soldier.
Prodi was on a three-day trip to Israel and the West Bank to discuss ways to promote Mideast peacemaking. At a news conference, he joined Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in speaking of the need to block Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
“We can never accept a country sworn to Israels destruction becoming a nuclear power,” Olmert said.
Those of us who have studied this problem for any length of time fully understand by now that there will never be peace in the Middle East as long as Islam is hellbent on the destruction of Jews and ‘unbelievers’. Ahmadinejad has told us over and over that he wants to liquidate Israel, but that’s just not good enough for the West. We have to get a kick in the gut, a bash in the teeth. We basically will end up playing the victim again, worse than 9-11, because our leaders are so afraid of reprisals, loss of face with Arab oil-producing states and the biggest fear of all: not getting re-elected.

While most of the U.S.A. has been paying more attention to the disbarment of Mike Nifong or the incarceration of Paris Hilton, our enemies in the Middle East have been quite active. It reminds me of a gathering of carrion crows surrounding Israel, smelling the coming kill. Indeed, Hamas’ violent takeover in Gaza has the crows in a frenzy, gentle readers.
Here’s part of what author Daniel Pipes has to say this morning in an article entitled ‘Two Palestines, Anyone?’ :

It gains from Hamas’s near isolation from the West, from the fractured Palestinian movement, and from its having a single address in Gaza. It would benefit us all to have clearer enemies to shoot, but that isn’t how the Arab Muslims play the game. They are cunning enough to know that the veil must be held high up near the eyes as long as possible, until the time comes when the facade of peace can fall away entirely.
Not far away from Gaza, bigger, fatter and more cunning crows have been spotted looming. This from the Islamic Republic News Agency:
Iran’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohammad Hosseini said on Tuesday that enemies of Islam are not happy with growing trend of bilateral ties between the two countries [Iran and Saudi Arabia].
Hosseini was speaking in a meeting with Saudi Interior Minister Prince Nayif bin Abdul-Aziz as he pointed to conspiracies hatched by enemies.
“There are hands at work to inculcate wrong and incorrect news to distress minds of regional states about the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“Unfortunately, certain countries accept and spread such news.
We should act wisely vis-a-vis such plots,” he said.
He added Iran and Saudi Arabia have enjoyed growing ties during recent months, saying, “The two countries have enormous cultural and historical potentials and commonalties which can lead to establishment of tranquility and strengthening of the Islamic world.”
Hosseini stated that a recent visit by the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Riyadh opened a new chapter in mutual relations, stressing, “Continued Iran-Saudi ties will be in the best interest of the Islamic world.”
The envoy pointed to misbehavior of a minor group in Saudi Arabia towards Iranian pilgrims and called on Saudi officials to take a severe action against such moves.
So the myth that Sunni and Shiite can not work together against a common enemy is melting away. The two greatest enemies to the United States in the world are now playing in the same sandbox.

During most of last week, two high-ranking Iranian delegations spent time in Damascus. One was composed of generals who held talks with Syrian leaders on coordinated preparations for a Middle East war in the coming months.
At the Iranian end, a similar high-ranking Syrian military delegation called in at Iranian army and Revolutionary Guards headquarters to tighten operational coordination between them at the command level, as well as inspecting the Iranian arsenal. The Syrian general staff will draw up a list of items it is short of for a possible military confrontation with Israel this summer.
Sources report that last week, Tehran sent Moscow a check for $327 m to pay for assorted missiles consigned to Damascus. A further $438 m has been pledged by the end of June for more hardware to Syria.

I came across the following report when I was perusing Atlas Shrugs:

As I happen to agree with every word of this next article, you can condemn me if you condemn Ms. Klinghoffer, but I’m so sick of hearing the name of Cho Seung-Hui that I had to post a few fitting references to the hero Liviu Librescu, the Jewish-Romanian lecturer who blocked the door to his classroom with his own body, sacrificing his life in the process in order to save the lives of as many of his students as he could. God bless him; he should be held up as an example for all.

Once again, this time in a campus filled with young men and women military age, a lone bully seemed to have been able to go on a rampage without anyone trying to actively stop him. What did the students and faculty do? They either cowered behind furniture or locked their door. He, of course, went on to shoot the students next door. Once again, as Bill Bennet noted, heavily armed men were seen swarming OUTSIDE assessing the situation!As this behavior took place on Holocaust memorial day, it is not surprising that the one man who said “Never again” was a 76 year old professor, a holocaust survivor. He did the best he could, blocked the door with his body and told his students to flee. Of course, it would have been better if had he told them to attack.
You think I am too harsh? believe it or not, But Mahatma Gandhi shared my view. Per chance, I as reading Mohandas yesterday and it included his response to the information that Hindu homes had been looted in Sharanpur in Western UP, an a housewife assaulted without the local Hindus putting up a fight. He emphasized that he was not asking Indians to respond with absolute non violence to villainy, or against “thieves, robbers or . . . nations that may invade India. He added:
As a Hindu I am more ashamed of Hindu couardice that I am angry at the Mussulman bullying. . . . Where there are cowards, there will always be bullies.”
Of course, standing up to bullies is no longer the expected even of trained fighters. How can one expect young people at a university to behave more courageously than British marines confronting Iranian bullies? We better. For as Gandhi expected, in the current atmosphere bullies are multiplying and the price of continuing to go as sheep to slaughter is getting higher and higher by the day.

There is still a little balance left in the world when one of the good people is not forgotten while we have to weather the all-too-typical media frenzy surrounding the evil-doer.
Liviu Librescu was born in 1930 to a Jewish family in the city of Ploie?ti, Romania. During World War II, his family was interned in a labor camp in Transnistria and then transferred to the ghetto of Foc?ani. He survived the Holocaust to become an accomplished scientist in Romania.
Librescu studied Aerospace Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, graduating in 1952 and continuing with a master at the same university. He was awarded his Ph.D. in Fluid Mechanics in 1969 at the Academia de ?tiin?e din România.
From 1953 to 1975 he worked as a researcher at Institute of Applied Mechanics, Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Aerospace Constructions of Academy of Science of Romania.
Under the Romanian communist regime at the time, he was unable to move to Israel (make aliyah). Eventually, the government permitted him to leave, but only after a direct request was made by the Prime Minister of Israel Menachem Begin to President of Romania Nicolae Ceau?escu.
Librescu emigrated to Israel in 1978. From 1979 to 1986 he was Professor of Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering at Tel-Aviv University.
From 1985 until his death, he served as Professor at Virginia Tech. Librescu received many academic honors during his work at Virginia Tech, serving as chair or invited as a keynote speaker of several International Congresses on Thermal Stresses and receiving several honorary degrees. He was elected member of the Academy of Sciences of the Shipbuilding of Ukraine and Foreign Fellow of the Academy of Engineering of Armenia. He served as a member on the editorial board of seven scientific journals and was invited as a guest editor of special issues of five other journals. According to his wife, no other Virginia Tech professor has ever published more articles than Librescu.
Librescu is survived by his wife, Marilena (née Semian), and his sons Joseph and Lionel.
