I listened to Hillary Clinton and Fred Thompson interviews on this morning’s early news. It got me to thinkin’. Who the heck is truly qualified to run this dog and pony show when Bush gives up the reigns? There are more candidates this time out of the gates than during the last two campaigns, but I still am left lukewarm to all of them. So, I think I’ll get a little help from my friends.
Please enter your anonymous vote below. Think hard; like Winnie the Pooh. “Think, think, think!”
I will be endorsing some candidate early next year. This poll may or may not sway me, but who knows? It certainly can’t hurt.

In light of some very heated arguments here at the Anvil, I got to thinking about the fundamentals again. I believe this is as good a time as any to put together a new poll to put into rotation. I’ve imported the data from the very first poll ever run on Foehammer’s Anvil, which was just prior to creating this new version of the site and migrating the whole deal to new hosting, so if some of you have already voted, you might get another chance at this one! It will appear randomly in the sidebar or find it in the Polls Archive:

I had intended to display the first poll results and start a new poll by now, but since I’m already in the process of propagating my server to its new home, I will not be touching the current poll until the switch is complete. At that time I’ll be implementing a native system for polling anyway and will have more controls over the polling, will be able to post several different polls at once and even allow old polls to be voted on continuously by new visitors.
I’m sure you’ve heard the recent poll numbers that state that 77% of Americans expect an all-out war with Muslim “extremists” within 20 years.
Sounds to me like the American people are ahead of the curve compared to our own government but — Muslim extremists. Muslim radicals? Muslim fundamentalists. Muslim Islamo-fascists? Wahhabis, mujahideen, Al Qaeda, Hammas, Hezbollah?
How many names can we create for the same enemy?

As the war in Iraq grinds into its fourth year, a growing proportion of Americans are expressing unfavorable views of Islam, and a majority now say that Muslims are disproportionately prone to violence, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
