The Sheep Go Baaaaaaah!

We really have become a nation of sheep in the USA. No less can be said of Europe. How has this happened? Well, allow me to illustrate with two videos from an unlikely source — one of FOXNews’ chief commentators, Judge Andrew Napolitano, author of A Nation of Sheep. Many people have a bias against FOXNews, including me because I’m biased against all major media outlets, but these videos prove that not everyone that is on the payroll of major networks is blind, stifled, cowardly, stupid, ignorant or bought and paid for. That in itself is very good news of a real kind.

We are slaves

You think you are free but you are not. You believe you live in a Democratic Republic, but you do not. You believe that money is backed by gold, but it is not. You think that your rights are protected but they are not. You believe that your government works for you, but it does not. You believe that your government is in control, but it is not. You believe that all Americans are equal, but we are not. You believe that the Economy can be fixed the way it exists, but it cannot. You would like to believe that your children have a bright future — but they do not.

Racism is just one more way to divert our attention

By now the entire world has witnessed to some extent the speech given yesterday by Barack Obama. I personally have only bothered to listen to bits and pieces of it, because I already knew that more discussion on the subject of “race in America” was just what it has been for too many years now: a diversionary tactic.

Today Everyone is Irish

It’s St. Patty’s Day again already. Where does the time go?

Fighting IrishI’m going to kick back and relax today, because I’m actually half-Irish and, well, I need a break from the depressing garbage I’ve been wading through month in and month out. I bet you all do, too. In that Irish Spirit I’m going to present you with something I Googled up and was quite entertained by. I don’t know if Jimmy Hook is for real or just a good story-teller; I haven’t bothered to watch any of his other episodes to find out. What I do know is that this video is worth watching and, in a bizarre and spooky way, it points towards the “root of all evil” that seems to be coming to the forefront of everything that I study of late. You know what that evil is, don’t you?

Economics Lesson: Money as Debt

Police State

“You know, gentlemen, that I do not owe any personal income tax. But nevertheless, I send a small check, now and then, to the Internal Revenue Service out of the kindness of my heart.” -David Rockefeller

Because I can tell by the relatively paltry response from only a handful of regular readers here at the Anvil to my recent posting attempting to shed light on the true nature of the Federal Income Tax, the IRS and the U.S. Federal Reserve, I believe it is now time to educate you all on just how bankers have been screwing things up and cheating us all for hundreds of years, to the point that now the richest and hardest working nation on Earth stands on the brink of another Depression.

Focus of the Anvil broadens

Pentagon flagEven if you are a regular reader here, you may not have noticed that I have slightly altered the welcoming message at the top of the main page to the Anvil this morning. It has been changed as follows, the following lines being added:

“If you are not prepared to discuss all enemies of the United States Constitution and the Republic, turn back now. If you are ready to give up Western idealism and Europe itself, turn back now.”

Islam and the West: The Clash has Begun

Teddy bear woes? Thoughts from Economist.com with a couple of my own interjected for better measure:

FOR anyone who is labouring to improve Christian-Muslim relations, or stop civilisations clashing, it is a painful setback: a well-intentioned Western woman who has volunteered her services as a teacher in a land stricken by conflict and poverty, only to find herself denounced by a local colleague and incarcerated in horrible conditions.

Gillian Gibbons, a 54-year-old teacher from Liverpool, was sentenced on Thursday November 29th to 15 days in prison for “insulting religion”, after allowing her pupils at a school in Khartoum, Sudan’s capital, to name a teddy bear Muhammad. She had invited a seven-year-old girl to bring in her teddy and then encouraged the class to vote on a name for the toy.

When the story broke in the British press this week, it was widely reported that she might face up to 40 lashes, or six months in jail, if she were found guilty on all three of the charges laid against her. British diplomats are now trying to secure Ms Gibbons’ early release. The incident happened in September and caused no protest among parents at the time. At one point the affair seemed to be spinning out of control as groups of angry men gathered outside the police station where she was held.

For Muslims in Britain and other democracies, the story was a deeply depressing one: so many of its features, including the fact that it happened in the run-up to Christmas, seemed almost calculated to resonate with British tabloid readers, who may not know much about Sudan or Islam (or any other faith) but have strong feelings about teddies, tiny tots and motherly teachers.

In more elevated western circles, it is becoming commoner to hear the view that Islam itself (rather than any extremist interpretations of the faith) is posing a challenge to western values that must be resisted. And if that view becomes more respectable, so too does a defensive Muslim reaction, which is often tinged with geopolitical grievance.

And are we to allow fear of this “defensive reaction” to the fact that persons like myself, shouting from the rooftops, are now being take more and more seriously — are we to allow this fear to control us? I think not.

It’s time to stand up and point the finger at Islam, ladies and gentlemen. The new Nazis have arrived on the scene and they mean to destroy the future for your children. Wake up! Freedom came at a high cost and we had better be prepared to continue to pay the ‘toll’ every so often, or we will no longer possess such freedom.

To observers who know Sudan, the whole affair seems to have become entangled with the broader stand-off between the government in Khartoum and the Western countries, including Britain, that have pushed for the United Nations to intervene in the appalling humanitarian crisis in Darfur. All diplomatic exchanges between the Sudanese government and Western ones, whether they concern refugees or teddy bears, take place against that background.

Matthies: Political Islam Gets Switzerland’s Goat

I am cross-posting the following article from the Middle East Forum in its entirety, complete with links. I believe we are witnessing a very interesting trend in Europeans of late — a trend that clearly shows that they are not going to go down to Islamism without a fight! Thanks to all who sent this in.

What Do Muslim Gays and Non-Muslims Have in Common?

From the New York Times:

SAN FRANCISCO — About 15 people marched alongside the Muslim float in this city’s notoriously fleshy Gay Pride Parade earlier this year, with various men carrying the flags of Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine and Turkey and even Iran’s old imperial banner.

While other floats featured men dancing in leather Speedos or women with scant duct tape over their nipples, many Muslims were disguised behind big sunglasses, fezzes or kaffiyehs wrapped around their heads.

For President: Not Who But Why

Bumper stickerI still can’t bring myself to endorse any of the current U.S. Presidential candidates. This doesn’t really surprise me; the choices available are fairly equal to one another depending on how you view them through the political prism. On one hand we have a power-hungry feminist Senator from New York, and on the other, a legal-savvy in-fighter from New York City. On one hand we have the tall gravitas of a seasoned Republican actor, and on the other, the lanky charm of a spirited Democratic newcomer. And that’s just the front line.

Italians Stop Mosque

Crusaders vigilantEye On The World has brought an interesting article to light this morning: Italy: Muslims may drop proposed mosque in northern town. It would seem that not all of Europe is ready to quietly give into Sharia Creep. I am not surprised that one of the toughest bastions of hope for freedom and common sense remains embodied in the nation of Italy.

Read the details.

Ladner: What it really means to be Islamophobic

It is so refreshing to come across an op-ed piece from a college writer that actually aligns with my own way of thinking. This morning I am cross-posting such an editorial from over at Tufts Daily by an International Relations major named Matthew Ladner (links and emphasis added). Mr. Ladner takes to task the notion that Islamophobia is a fairly diagnosed condition and proves in just enough words that we all have a right to hold Islam suspect if we feel justly threatened by Sharia Law and the like.
