Musharraf in his own words: Pakistan in ‘downward trend’

This pre-recorded video was played on Al Jazeera. In it Pervez Musharraf defends his reasoning behind declaring emergency rule in Pakistan. It is my opinion that we had better do everything we can to keep Musharraf safe and in control of Pakistan and if we fail to do so, we’d best have Special Forces standing by to drop in and secure that nuclear arsenal.

Wafa Sultan Warning the West on ‘evil of Islam’

From The Australian (hat-tip: Gramfan):

THE West was still underestimating the evil of Islam, an influential Muslim thinker has warned.

On a two-week “under the radar” visit to Australia, Syrian-born Wafa Sultan secretly met both sides of federal politics and Jewish community leaders, warning them that all Muslims needed to be closely monitored in the West.

He insisted that Australia and the US have been duped into believing there is a difference between the religion’s moderate and radical interpretations.

Another South Korean Christian Aid Worker Shot Dead and I Must Rant

The inevitable — another Christian hostage shot dead by the Muslim Taliban — and I’m set off in a rage again. It’s been awhile since I just ranted. Step back a pace from the monitor:

These Taliban have no problem hiding among the “Muslim people” — how is this possible without a hugely sympathetic Muslim populace?

The same syndrome that finds posters of Khomeini and Osama bin Laden plastered in the hovels, homes, apartments and mosques of Muslims around the world — they are sympathetic to anyone waging Jihad. Those few that aren’t or claim they aren’t are either liars or casual Muslims or on the brink of apostasy.

Boycott Islam: Calling the Blogosphere to Build the Company List

A couple of weeks ago I proposed the “radical idea” of using boycott as a way of peacefully marginalizing the Islamic community in Western nations and forcing it towards a reckoning with itself. Well, today is finally time for me to put forth the call to the Blogosphere and request suggestions for companies that should be targets of this boycott.

Sunni insurgents in Iraq guilty of cyber-jihad

Complimenting very well what 1389 just recently posted — Is the U.S. government finally ready to confront cyberjihadism? — comes an article fresh from The Washington Times:

Sunni insurgents in Iraq are spreading their message of violence to the Arab and Muslim world via underground videos, writings and songs on the Internet, according to a Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty report.

“There is rapt attention to the importance of media” among Sunni militant groups as they engage in sectarian violence with Shi’ites and oppose the U.S.-backed Iraqi government, said Daniel Kimmage, an RFE/RL analyst who co-authored the report “Iraqi Insurgent Media: The War of Images and Ideas.”

Individuals with computers and Internet connections are using simple software programs to compile videos of roadside bomb attacks and gunbattles, set them to songs promoting jihad, and share them with countless people, according to the report released in late June.

“It’s virtually impossible to tell” who is maintaining the Web sites and creating the content for them, Mr. Kimmage said Thursday. Some Web sites have existed for a few years, while others remain in operation for only a few months before they shut down for whatever reason.

One video compilation of bombings and attacks, called “Top 20,” is described as a “greatest hits” collection. “They say it’s to encourage healthy competition among insurgent groups,” Mr. Kimmage said.

Many videos start on Web sites with a small audience, but are quickly picked up by others until they become widely viewed. The report highlighted one example from a few months ago of a video depicting a sniper shooting U.S. soldiers in Baghdad, which was eventually aired on Al Jazeera television, a major Arab-world news channel.

“That really sends a message to the consumers of the media,” said Kathleen Ridolfo, who wrote the report with Mr. Kimmage. “It shows how channels like Al Jazeera do their part to support global jihad.”

The authors said that most Sunni insurgent videos and articles contain jihadist language — words like “crusaders” and “infidels” — to appeal to an audience beyond Iraq’s borders. This language was introduced to Iraqi insurgents by groups like al Qaeda, Ms. Ridolfo said.

I have something to say here, very quickly: I think it is not necessarily a good thing for the American public to be so well-insulated from vivid images of our enemies killing our soldiers. In fact, I am going to start addressing that in slightly more visceral imagery here at the Anvil in the coming weeks. I am convinced that, just as we almost never see repeats of 9-11 footage on television, we are similarly being coddled like children by our government and media when it comes to the deaths of our soldiers, while our enemies use the images that should righteously incite us to further their own ends. This practice is wrong. We have every right to get pissed off; those are our people dying out there because of a death cult that should have stagnated back in the 7th century, but instead has festered like a never-healing open wound.

Insulating the public from the killing of our soldiers isn’t the answer, exposing the public to the evils of our Islamic enemies is. And point of fact, I think that’s the real motivation behind keeping the reality of the war from being presented more boldly to the American and Western public: to protect Muslims from an angry citizenry here in the States and abroad. The Bush Administration making stupid decisions again based primarily on Islamic appeasement policies.

What kind of soft, shallow and morally confused people have we become in the USA when we are willing to go watch ultra-violent movies like ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ or ‘Hostel’ for entertainment, but we aren’t willing to face the brutal realities of the very real ‘War on Terror’ for the good of ourselves?

No wonder we are losing the Long War.

Bin Laden Offers a False Truce

From the AP come details of the latest taped threats from Osama Bin Laden:

By LEE KEATH
Associated Press Writer

CAIRO, Egypt

Al-Jazeera on Thursday aired an audiotape purportedly from Osama bin Laden, who says al-Qaida is making preparations for attacks in the United States but offering a truce “with fair conditions.”

The tape’s release came days after a U.S. airstrike in Pakistan that was targeting bin Laden’s deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri, and reportedly killed four leading al-Qaida figures, including possibly al-Zawahri’s son-in-law. There was no mention of the attack on the segments that were broadcast.

New Al Qaeda Tape Pressing For Attacks

A newly released tape from Al Qaeda, once again airing on their mouthpiece Al Jazeera, has now surfaced one month from our national elections and is calling for attacks upon the United States and Britain and allied nations. Is this supposed to be a surprise?

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - An audio tape purportedly released by Usama bin Laden’s deputy calls for attacks on U.S. and British interests everywhere, according to a broadcast Friday by Al-Jazeera television.

Muslim-American Deserter

I am not at all surprised by this story just reported by Fox News. I basically predicted this would be the outcome many days ago, in fact. The man smelled of deserter from the start — and we’ve already seen how frail the loyalties of Muslims are to the United States, over and over again.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - An Iraqi militant group said Monday it had not killed U.S. Marine Wassef Ali Hassoun but had moved him to “a place of safety” after he pledged not to return to the American armed forces, Al-Jazeera television reported.

Army Spc. Keith Matthew Maupin Murdered

While our United States Supreme Court is too busy worrying about the rights of non-citizens, especially potential and actual terrorists in military custody, more Americans are being butchered.

The latest video taped execution-style murder is believed to be that of Army Spc. Keith Matthew Maupin, who was kidnapped back in April and had not been heard of since.

Well, it would seem we have now heard the last of this brave soldier. May justice swiftly find his cowardly murderers.

From MSNBC comes the following report:

Marine in Terrorist Hands and Al Jazeera the Mouthpiece Again

I have to say that I am beyond patience with Al Jazeera. They seem to be in absolute complicity with Al Qaeda in their constant first-hand flow of information from terrorists to the rest of the world. Wouldn’t it be reasonable to assume that it would save many lives to shut this propagandist, terrorist-mouthpiece organization down and start interrogating its employees? Some of them obviously know where Al Qaeda leadership and couriers are located, as well as email contacts and web sites, cell phones and information dumps. And on top of that, the luster that is currently surrounding these all-to-well documented kidnappings and beheadings will not be what it has been if the videos are not so easily and readily available to news agencies.
