Do Not Expect An End to ‘Terrorism’

I do not expect anything to stop terrorism in the United States or around the world as long as fear is turned into massive profit.

We can “bailout” mega-corporations like Citicorp — which also happens to have at least 9% of its holdings owned by Arab-Muslim investors — with trillions of dollars in Unconstitutional tax money collected from the American People, but we can’t build a wall for a mere fraction of this cost to keep the invaders from Mexico out of our Nation.

Sunni insurgents in Iraq guilty of cyber-jihad

Complimenting very well what 1389 just recently posted — Is the U.S. government finally ready to confront cyberjihadism? — comes an article fresh from The Washington Times:

Sunni insurgents in Iraq are spreading their message of violence to the Arab and Muslim world via underground videos, writings and songs on the Internet, according to a Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty report.

“There is rapt attention to the importance of media” among Sunni militant groups as they engage in sectarian violence with Shi’ites and oppose the U.S.-backed Iraqi government, said Daniel Kimmage, an RFE/RL analyst who co-authored the report “Iraqi Insurgent Media: The War of Images and Ideas.”

Individuals with computers and Internet connections are using simple software programs to compile videos of roadside bomb attacks and gunbattles, set them to songs promoting jihad, and share them with countless people, according to the report released in late June.

“It’s virtually impossible to tell” who is maintaining the Web sites and creating the content for them, Mr. Kimmage said Thursday. Some Web sites have existed for a few years, while others remain in operation for only a few months before they shut down for whatever reason.

One video compilation of bombings and attacks, called “Top 20,” is described as a “greatest hits” collection. “They say it’s to encourage healthy competition among insurgent groups,” Mr. Kimmage said.

Many videos start on Web sites with a small audience, but are quickly picked up by others until they become widely viewed. The report highlighted one example from a few months ago of a video depicting a sniper shooting U.S. soldiers in Baghdad, which was eventually aired on Al Jazeera television, a major Arab-world news channel.

“That really sends a message to the consumers of the media,” said Kathleen Ridolfo, who wrote the report with Mr. Kimmage. “It shows how channels like Al Jazeera do their part to support global jihad.”

The authors said that most Sunni insurgent videos and articles contain jihadist language — words like “crusaders” and “infidels” — to appeal to an audience beyond Iraq’s borders. This language was introduced to Iraqi insurgents by groups like al Qaeda, Ms. Ridolfo said.

I have something to say here, very quickly: I think it is not necessarily a good thing for the American public to be so well-insulated from vivid images of our enemies killing our soldiers. In fact, I am going to start addressing that in slightly more visceral imagery here at the Anvil in the coming weeks. I am convinced that, just as we almost never see repeats of 9-11 footage on television, we are similarly being coddled like children by our government and media when it comes to the deaths of our soldiers, while our enemies use the images that should righteously incite us to further their own ends. This practice is wrong. We have every right to get pissed off; those are our people dying out there because of a death cult that should have stagnated back in the 7th century, but instead has festered like a never-healing open wound.

Insulating the public from the killing of our soldiers isn’t the answer, exposing the public to the evils of our Islamic enemies is. And point of fact, I think that’s the real motivation behind keeping the reality of the war from being presented more boldly to the American and Western public: to protect Muslims from an angry citizenry here in the States and abroad. The Bush Administration making stupid decisions again based primarily on Islamic appeasement policies.

What kind of soft, shallow and morally confused people have we become in the USA when we are willing to go watch ultra-violent movies like ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ or ‘Hostel’ for entertainment, but we aren’t willing to face the brutal realities of the very real ‘War on Terror’ for the good of ourselves?

No wonder we are losing the Long War.

U.S. Military Review of Islam in 1946

I have read this material before, but Marc Schulman of The Moderate Voice has introduced it again, so I was prompted to host the 1946 U.S. Military Review directly here on the Anvil as a result. What follows Schulman’s introduction should be required reading:

23 years before the Iranian Revolution and 55 years before the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a section (pages 24-34) of the very first of the intelligence reviews published by the Military Intelligence Division of the U.S. War Department identified Islam as a threat to world stability. It would be interesting to know how many of the higher-ups in our intelligence agencies and Defense Department were even aware of this report when the hijacked planes slammed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the Pennsylvania ground.

Iran getting nervous

Do Iranian military leaders know something we don’t know? It seems to me that in the past twenty-four hours I have read an unusual number of reports that detail comments, conjecture and threats coming out of Tehran that sound desperate. Iran makes a habit of extortion and kidnapping, so threats are to be expected, but it’s the rate of the whining that’s really gotten my attention.

For instance:

IRAN has threatened to launch a missile blitz against the Gulf states and plunge the entire Middle East into war if America attacks its nuclear facilities.

Admiral Ali Shamkhani, a senior defence adviser to the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned that Gulf states providing the US with military cooperation would be the key targets of a barrage of ballistic missiles.

Shamkhani told the US journal Defense News that missiles would be launched not only at US military bases but also at strategic targets such as oil refineries and power stations.

Qatar, Bahrain and Oman all host important US bases and British forces are based in all three countries. Any Iranian attack would be bound to draw in the other Gulf Cooperation Council states: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.

The attacks on Arab states would be in addition to airstrikes on Israel, which have been threatened repeatedly. An Iranian foreign ministry official said: “The objective would be to overwhelm US missile defence systems with dozens and maybe hundreds of missiles fired simultaneously at specific targets.”

And:

A senior Iranian official on Saturday renewed Teheran’s threat to target US interests around the world if the United States attacked the Islamic Republic over its nuclear programme, Fars News Agency reported.

Washington accuses Iran of seeking to develop atomic weapons, a charge Teheran denies. Although US officials insist they want a diplomatic resolution, they have not ruled out military action if deemed necessary.

“In case of an American attack against Iran, the interests of this country around the world and in the region will be endangered,” Mohammad Baqer Zolghadr, a deputy Interior Minister for security affairs, was quoted as saying.

“Today, all American bases in the region are within the reach of our medium-range weapons,” said Zolghadr, former deputy commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.

“Today, if the slightest disorder in the region’s security and in the security of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf is created, oil prices will reach $250 a barrel and this will lead to the death of European countries and America in terms of economy and security,” he added.

These are the words of desperate men. I would remind my readers that American soldiers are dying predominantly because of the Iranian regime’s meddling. I enjoy reading such nervous whimpering coming out of Tehran because it gives me hope that the necessary attack preparations are being made by the U.S. Air Force and Navy and that we can finally decapitate the snake that keeps injecting Iraq with poison.

Appeasers on both sides of the ocean don’t want an attack to happen and are willing to say or do anything to stop it. I urge you to counter this lobbying by writing to your representatives and demanding action against the enemy that has murdered and kidnapped Americans for almost 30 years. The Islamic regime in Iran has a reckoning coming and our future security as a free nation demands action against all forces that would kill our people with impunity.

In the old days, we would declare war on Iran, but I’ll settle for some Tomahawk missiles and bombers and some newspaper headlines this go-around.

Hang Al-Sadr

Once again, clear thinking coming from the secular American-Muslims behind FMCAT:

The Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism urges Arab and Muslim leaders to provide moral support to the new Iraqi government in its bid to defeat Muqtada al-Sadr and his Mehdi Army.

It has been more than a year since the invasion of Iraq. Some were for the war and some were against the war. However, continuing to argue about whether the war was justified is now moot and not constructive. No matter what is one’s view about the invasion of Iraq, the Arab and Muslim world must now agree that a stable, prosperous Iraq is in everyone’s best interest.
