I know I’ve been a bit absent from blogging for a couple of weeks. I needed some time to myself after Debra Medina got ousted from the Texas Governor’s race by Rick “the Slick” Perry in what I consider a crooked vote, but what can you do? There’s always next time; if the USA survives to a “next time” and Rick Perry doesn’t end up President.
But today is St. Patrick’s Day! Make some plans to enjoy some toasts over green beer with your best friends and family and forget about our worries for a day, at least. We all deserve that much. Well, most of us anyway.
Not you, Rick.
This should not come as a surprise to my regulars, but I am going to make this official: I am on an indefinite hiatus from blogging here at the Anvil. This does not mean that I will never put an entry up. This does not mean that I will never do another radio interview or podcast. What this means is that I am taking three steps back and not slaving myself to this ship like I have done for upwards of 4 years now in various forms.
I didn’t make a post yesterday, but I did re-organize the Anvil a bit more; hopefully for the better. And the day before that I worked almost all day and created a mirror site of the Anvil at Foehammer.com for safe-keeping of future articles that I post here, and also to accommodate those readers on slow connections. It’s also Digg-able, unlike Foehammer.net itself. You can just call it Foehammer, or how I affectionately like to refer to it, Foehammer Lite.

Robert Spencer continues a recent series that attempts to pull apart the individual suras of the Qur’an for readers at both Jihad Watch and Hot Air. It’s definitely worth a read.
I can’t help but shrug at this series, considering that I put together the first part of ‘Refuting Islam‘ a couple of months back in a very similar attempt, and although I believe mine is more accessible and entertaining, surely Spencer’s approach is more informative.

I wanted to alert readers that the Anvil has been hit with a database malfunction and I’m having to restore as much as I can manually after I did a backup install. Undoubtedly some comments and perhaps one or two of my own posts will be gone. I will make every attempt to email previous comments to posters if I am able and allow you the easy option of copy/pasting them back into the appropriate articles, or we can just chalk this day as “one of those days” and move on.

First I’d like to say that I’ve found a grievous error in the Blogger system that went unknown to me for the past several months (I’m embarrassed to admit that, but with so little time across Summer to Fall to devote to the Anvil, things slipped), but as of tonight I believe I have the comments working again! My settings were such that there should have been no need for moderation, only for those wishing to post to be registered with Blogger.
