College students in Islamic Studies: Send Jihad Watch your syllabi!

Are you in college or know a current student? Are you taking any Middle East Studies courses? If so, then read on! From Jihad Watch:

Professor Carl Ernst of the University of North Carolina recently saw fit to include a trip to Jihad Watch — in a disparaging context, of course — in his “Introduction to Islamic Civilization” course. Ernst thus demonstrates how threatened he is by the challenge we represent to the Middle East Studies academic establishment and the propaganda it purveys in our nation’s universities.

TV Reminder: FoxNews Channel TONIGHT - Fingers Crossed!

Fingers crossed that tonight, yes tonight, this special will actually see airtime. I’m still not sure why the murder of one person trumped the “need-to-know” of the entire nation last night, but I guess FOX knows what sells the most commercials. (I turned off the television though, so that idea didn’t work in my house.)

Just a quick reminder that tonight at 9 PM ET, Sunday June 24th, will air an important broadcast on the FoxNews Channel that I believe most of you will not want to miss.

Televison Alert: Banned by PBS but to air on FoxNews

I just received the following alert from reader/contributor, A Plague On Both Houses. I’m not sure if this will be an actual airing of documentary footage from the film ‘Islam vs Islamists’, but it still sounds like an important viewing opportunity. Should anyone reading here at the Anvil get more details on Saturday’s scheduled production, please post a comment here or contact me so that I may update this entry.

From FoxNews:

Banned By PBS: Muslims Against Jihad — Sat 9p/3a EST
It’s a riveting documentary about moderate Muslims fighting jihadists who want us dead … but was it stifled by liberal bias?

Uncle Sam: Buy War Bonds
Sometimes people wonder what the fundamental difference is between most anti-jihad sites and the Anvil. Well, an article from Jihad Watch this morning has a response from Robert Spencer that I can use to illustrate a couple of quick but important points.

What Constitutes a Hate-crime Against a Muslim in America (OR Welcome to the Blogosphere)

Islamic Center Detroit Vandalized
Let me ask you something. If I were to walk up to a mosque and toss a ham sandwich into the doorway, would that be a hate-crime?

If I walked up to a Muslim and flatly told him or her that Islam is a false cult and should be outlawed — is that a hate-crime?

If I call Islam the Enemy — is that a hate-crime?

There are stories circulating of some acts of defiance in the United States and unjust punishments — small reprisals against Islamic communities here and there. Pig heads in bags thrown at mosques, for instance. I have no evidence that such events have actually occurred, but this is the type of story that’s circulating.

While at the same time, other cases of clear hate-crimes are labeled as “possible”, but that’s only when Muslims aren’t the “victims”. We can’t get enough of double-standards in the USA can we?

Now, in a reasonable American mind, this brings up pictures of crosses being burnt on lawns, but at the same time, is it reasonable to call such events hate-crimes when these non-violent reprisals are against a cult that is at the heart of Global Terrorism? When some Americans are acting out of anger possibly at the loss of their loved-ones to Islamic jihadists in Iraq and Afghanistan, and quite possibly and unfortunately, right here at home on 9-11 and all they do is use a ham sandwich?

Is this fair?

LEWISTON - One student has been suspended and more disciplinary action could follow a possible hate crime at Lewiston Middle School, Superintendent Leon Levesque said Wednesday.

On April 11, a white student placed a ham steak in a bag on a lunch table where Somali students were eating. Muslims consider pork unclean and offensive.

The act reminded students of a man who threw a pig’s head into a Lewiston mosque last summer.

The school incident is being treated seriously as “a hate incident,” Levesque said. Lewiston police are investigating, and the Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence is working with the school to create a response plan.

“We’ve got some work to do to turn this around and bring the school community back together again,” Levesque said.

Placing ham where Muslim students were eating was “an awful thing,” said Stephen Wessler, executive director of the Center for Prevention of Hate Violence. “It’s extraordinarily hurtful and degrading” to Muslims, whose religion prohibits them from being around ham. It’s important to respond swiftly, Wessler said.

“Incidents like this that involve degrading language or conduct are often said by the perpetrator as a joke. I know that conduct is never static,” he said. “It’s part of a process of escalation.”

If people think insulting Muslims with ham is OK, “More degrading acts will follow, until at some point we’ll end up having violence,” Wessler said.

Am I alone in thinking that the police response in this story is not only insanely overdone, but actually appeasement of our enemies? Oh, the poor, poor traumatized Muslims saw a ham sandwich! And strangely, the incidents in my own life when I’ve been the victim of real and violent and bordering-on violent hate-crimes go completely disregarded by police — because I’m perceived as part of the “majority”. Hmm.

That punishment is unjustified. That’s how I view it. In fact, I applaud that act of defiance, because if you want to know the truth, we aren’t nearly defiant enough in the United States with regard to Islam.

Would I even be asking these things if this was World War II and someone torched a Nazi propaganda house?

So, how far is too far? What constitutes a hate-crime against Muslims in the United States? Certainly violence against Muslims here as vigilantes is not something I condone. Certainly I prefer not to delve into slurs with racial overtones when I’m in an honest and intelligent debate online. But I think it’s fair to say that I believe that showing overt disgust with Islam is fair. If I want to wave my BLT sandwich in a Muslim’s face and smirk, that’s hardly a hate-crime, though it certainly will piss him off because I had the courage to show disdain for Islam. If I expect a Muslim teller at a store to scan my bacon at checkout, that’s also certainly not a hate-crime, because I expect to buy my groceries without interference from anyone.

We have to be careful how far we let Muslims in America take their lobbying and their consternation and lawsuits, because you see, they are already trying to stop us from defying them, condemning Islam or having open debates about the future of Islam in America. That’s part of the longterm goals of Islamists — to strip us of our will and our right to criticize Islam at all.

I was already prepared to start this topic this morning when I then came across some interesting comments over on a JW thread. Apparently there’s a new Islamist in town that calls himself Muslim Responses AKA Sami Zaatari. And Sami likes to harass people, especially “infidels” on Jihad Watch comments and at his websites. In fact, I’m going to warn my gentle readers that they should be very careful not to post comments on his sites. It seems Zaatari has a penchant for emailing company domains of those who might post from work.

But, as you may have already guessed, that doesn’t stop me from posting. I somehow doubt I’ll get through his queue, but if I do I’ll update this entry with a link. In the meantime, I’ve added Zaatari’s sites to my Crusadeworthy blogs category. I can’t think of anyone in recent days that deserves it more.

Welcome to the Blogosphere, Mr. Zaatari.

In your heart, you know I’m right.

My responses to these reader comments form the editorial for today. First I’ll repost a bit of the thread in question to give you proper context, followed by my thoughts. Reader Gramfan posted these worthy observations:

I think it is also important to use MSM ‘blog sites. Most papers have them now and from what I have read I have observed some things:

1. Most people that post are aware that PC and multi-culturalism are doing us a lot of harm, meaning they can see the affect of islam on our communities.

2. They are learning a lot about islam: many are familiar with taqquiya and excerpts from the koran.

3. They are beginning to notice that the muslim posters who “seem” to be nice and friendly do nothing but knock Christianity, knock Judaism, knock the US and any right-wing governments,,,not to mention their views on Israel.

I see muslim posters re-writing history daily. It is unbelievable. They are using “divide and conquer” strategies on us.

4. They are observing how muslim posters “argue”.

I am beginning to wonder if one of the first posts I read on Jihadwatch was correct.
It was from the UK. It is obvious Blair has blood on his hands re the British people. Someone said it is just a matter of time till there is a civil war.

This sounds unthinkable I know, but how long are people going to take this? Or is it just people like myself, and other baby-boomers, who can see what is at stake here?

I am going to keep doing what I am doing. The answers will come if we keep our goals clear. And hopefully a leader will also emerge.

Yes, indeed, I do believe not only is there a civil war brewing in Europe, I think it is not unlikely to occur here in the United States. I’ve said so a few times in various ways, but one of the primary reasons that I relocated my own life some years back (and yes, after I’d already discovered Jihad Watch), was to position myself in the best strategic spot to weather any coming storm — literally. I’m hardly alone in thinking that civil war is coming. Some of the brightest minds around agree. In fact, I have a book on my shelf that I’m about to get to by Orson Scott Card that deals with the fictional upheaval and eventual division that very well might hit the USA: Empire.

I’m sure that more than a few people that know me believe I’m crazy, because it’s far easier to want to believe that, than to believe my message. This is also why Generation X is asleep at the wheel — they’ve bought into the “love everyone until they hate you” mentality of the Far Left, the Gay/Lesbian Coalitions, the ACLU, the Feminazis, and groups that exploit them for entirely different goals like CAIR, the Muslim Brotherhood, etc.

Who the hell doesn’t hate war? Leftists act as if they are the only people that abhor war, but in fact, soldiers that have been to war hate it far more than anyone — and yet they are willing and ready to fight and die to protect us, and yes even the Rosie O’Donnells of the world, too. Why is that?

It’s because hating war doesn’t mean war isn’t necessary.

None of us would be here today if it were not for the good deeds and wars fought by men and women from throughout history who were willing to take up arms and stand for something greater than themselves individually. But today, we are being attacked by people on one side that only care about the individual to an extreme (the Far Left), and on the other side by people who care not one iota about the invidividual (the Islamofascists) — and that’s why they are in league with each other — because they have the same common enemy: Free People of Common Sense and Western Values.

Do we live in houses without walls? Of course not. And why is that? Because everyone needs boundaries. Every great nation deserves its sovereignty. There is no more reason for the United States of America, Australia, New Zealand, Britain, Canada, et al, to give up our ideals to appease zealots that are bent on world domination in the name of a false religion, and yes I’ll say it, a false god. Because I have absolutely no qualms about stating that Islam is a lie, that the supposed words of Muhammad that were scribed in Arabia did not come from God, and that the only evidence we could require to know that for sure is to compare his deeds to those of any other great prophets from all-time. Muhammad was a monster, and his legacy is the most monstrous cult in the history of humanity.

And these are demons that are now being smoothly shoveled down our throats by snake-charmers in places like Dearborn, Michigan. And the message is perpetuated by tiny brains like Nancy Pelosi. People of massive ambition like her are perfect tools for the Islamists. Again, just like Chamberlain before her, she’s making the classic errors — “the road to peace is through Damascus” — and it is doing nothing but weakening the West and preparing us for our own downfall.

Indeed, words will not suffice forever. That is one of the primary points of my blog and probably my greatest subtext. Eventually we are going to be pushed into a corner because of the weaklings that are currently leading our nations. There are a handful of superstars that are keeping us all afloat right now, but we need to bring in new leaders with greater understanding of this conflict and actually start making changes. We need a Churchill, or two or three. We need fearless bastards like Patton, and crafty, honorable warriors like Rommel, and a political animal like Machiavelli, not more sycophants and more unwise schemers and greedy lobbyists. And certainly not more lawyers!

This week I will turn 40 years old. I’m in the unique position in my “old” life to see the changes necessary for the United States and the world, having enough life experience to have attained an ounce of wisdom, and at the same time, I’m “young” enough to have the energy to fight hard, stand up to anyone and make trouble for my enemies and ours. For some reason I’m convinced that this is not just happenstance. And so, I will continue to labor here on the Anvil and to fill my head with as much information as it can stand before it pops like a balloon. I will dig my feet in and not budge when I am confronted by more and more ignorance and lies and hate and fear. (Yes, I will even survive email spam.)

Perhaps these things are perceived as easy to say, but I have always lead by example in my life, unlike too many around me, and I mean every damn word of it. If I’m ever presented the opportunity to bend the ears of our leaders in private conversation, I will. If I have to fight to preserve my own life from assassins, I’ll do my best then, too. The simple fact is, I’ve decided to fight the fight, not just sit idly by and do nothing — and that is exactly how we can still win this war with Islam. If everyone owns the battle, the battle can be won. Just as was done in World War II and later during the long Cold War. We engaged the enemy, we had the greater will, we fought united and we prevailed.

Nothing less than the audacity of collective free thought and the strength of collective will can save us now from the multicultural seditionists that eat away at us from within and the Islamofascists that assail us from without. If we do not decide to do something about these enemies, then it will be over, civil wars will occur as the last gasps of the West are heard, and the worst crimes imaginable will be levied against our way of life.

Now, the urge to pen my thoughts has lead me to this point again on another Sunday morning, and I think I’ve said enough for one day or many, for that matter, and it’s again up to my readers to decide: “Is he crazy?” or “Is he aware?”

In the immortal words from the losing 1964 Presidential campaign of Barry Goldwater, former Republican Senator from Arizona: “In your heart, you know he’s right.”

Will this be another losing “campaign”, despite being right? That’s up to you, gentle readers.

Robert Spencer Offers a Different Definition of Jihad

William Caldwell isn’t going to insult my intelligence and get away with it. The Emory Wheel published the following article from Robert Spencer this morning:

In “Jihad Means Much More Than Violence” (Feb. 16), Will Caldwell objects to the David Horowitz Freedom Center’s ad, “What Americans Need to Know About Jihad,” as “propaganda,” and calls for it to be censored. He asserts that “most in our community are educated enough to understand that statements like ‘The goal of jihad is world domination’ are completely ignorant and intentionally provocative.”

New Jersey-born Abu Usamah responds to video footage

Abu Usamah
I think it is of especial interest that a black, American-born Muslim clergyman is at the heart of stirring up hate in the United Kingdom. Does anyone still want to delude themselves into believing that Islam doesn’t corrupt and spread hatred? It seemingly knows no racial or national bounds.

A video of Abu Usamah has now been added to my Multimedia section as a footnote to the 6-part Dispatches series already available.

Robert Spencer had this to say on Jihad Watch in reference to Abu:

Cold Talk on a Cold Morning

Third Battalion Fourth Marine Regiment.
The in-fighting in our Congress is a travesty on the best of days, but this wrangling over the additional troops being sent into Iraq is beyond contempt. Either we stand with our President and our troops or we don’t. What’s it going to be?

My entire life, like all Americans, I have been witness to the dirty joke that is our U.S. government. There were glimpses of greatness during the Reagan years, but ever since, it’s been a roller coaster ride. (Thanks, Bill.) And the brief coming-together period that followed 9-11 was predictably short.

Coalition forces kill 20 jihadists

Insurgents? Insurgents?! Enough nonsense: jihadists.

From the AP clones:

BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S.-led coalition forces killed 20 insurgents, including two women, Friday in fighting and airstrikes that targeted al-Qaida in
Iraq militants northwest of Baghdad, the military said. The mayor of the village, which was the site of a U.S. raid earlier this year, said 19 civilians were killed, including seven women and eight children.

Ahmadinejad to the West: Follow God or vanish

The would-be “reverter” of America to Islam is at it again:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has warned Western leaders to follow the path of God or “vanish from the face of the earth”.

“These oppressive countries are angry with us … a nation that on the other side of the globe has risen up and proved the shallowness of their power,” Ahmadinejad said in a speech in the northern town of Ramsar, the semi-official news agency Mehr reported Wednesday.

35 or more Hindus massacred by Mujahedin

From Reuters:

JAMMU, India (Reuters) - Suspected Islamic militants shot dead at least 22 Hindus in two small villages in Indian-administered Kashmir on Monday, officials said.

The massacre, one of the biggest in recent months, took place just days before Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh holds talks with Kashmiri separatists in New Delhi and later travels to the violent region for a “roundtable” conference with Kashmiris.

Militants struck the remote Hindu-dominated mountainous villages in Doda district, some 170 km (100 miles) northeast of Jammu, Kashmir’s winter capital, early on Monday, police said.
