I keep experimenting with my mic technique in order to get the best vocal quality. Updating another past article, There is No Equivalence Here, was a great opportunity to get things closer to perfect. I might never go so far as to soundproof my office, but I definitely am seeing the benefits of making sure that I keep the mic far away from any possible background noise like a desktop computer, air conditioner or fan. It’s also amazing what just the right distance from a microphone can do to the overall sound.

Here is an open thread for the Labor Day weekend. And as promised, I have posted a new podcast.
I’m still refining the podcast elements and things are improving. My new microphone is working exceptionally well, but I still need to get used to recording techniques when adapting something I’ve written to the spoken word. All in good time.
This latest podcast is My Reaction to ‘Our Children’s Children’s War’, an editorial I wrote almost 6 months ago after viewing the Tep Koppel television special on the Discovery Channel.

It seems that I’ve built-up the Anvil to the point that I can hardly think of anything else to add to it, so now I’m busy refining it. In the past 48 hours I made many cleanups to code, the sidebar, links and fonts, as well as adding a nice statistics display and overhauling the Archives.
In fact, if you click on the Archives right now, you can see what I’m writing about for yourself. Older articles should now be much easier to browse through and locate thanks mainly to a terrific plugin called SRG Clean Archives.
