A recent story in the Atlanta Journal Constitution reminded me of a brief interview I saw with Newt a day ago. There are important messages here from Gingrich. Pay close attention and read between the lines:
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Thursday the Bush administration is waging a “phony war” on terrorism, warning that the country is losing ground against the kind of Islamic radicals who attacked the country on Sept. 11, 2001.

I have read this material before, but Marc Schulman of The Moderate Voice has introduced it again, so I was prompted to host the 1946 U.S. Military Review directly here on the Anvil as a result. What follows Schulman’s introduction should be required reading:
23 years before the Iranian Revolution and 55 years before the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a section (pages 24-34) of the very first of the intelligence reviews published by the Military Intelligence Division of the U.S. War Department identified Islam as a threat to world stability. It would be interesting to know how many of the higher-ups in our intelligence agencies and Defense Department were even aware of this report when the hijacked planes slammed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the Pennsylvania ground.

Have you been looking for proof that Socialists, Leftists, Marxists and the like are still alive, kicking and looking to uplift Islamists? Well, here you go, from Socialist Worker Online:
HADAS THIER and AARON HESS look at how racist caricatures of Islam are used to justify war and occupation.
AT A recent antiwar panel discussion in New York City, Columbia University professor and antiwar activist Hamid Dabashi commented that whenever the U.S. goes to war, it projects an image of itself as the embattled underdog–an “army of Sparta,” rather than an aggressive superpower bent on conquest.

Take one look at this site I just had pointed out to me and you will quickly discover why I’m pointing you in its direction. Funny stuff, and sadly, so true.
