“Islam is not a threat to world peace, despite the best efforts of certain world leaders and internet crusaders to convince us otherwise. The Cairns [Australia] Muslim community, for example, is a peaceful multi-cultural group publicly opposed to Muslim extremists.”
Don’t you feel so much better now? Australian ‘reporter’ Gavin King has just told you that Islam is the Religion of Peace™, that only ‘extremists’ kill people and that multi-culturalism is not a problem for anybody, and all wrapped up in two convenient sentences.
I guess it’s time to shut down the Anvil.
(Pause.)
You know me better than that.
Ding, ding! Round 2! (Link to: Round 1.)
Some people don’t know when to sit down and shut up. In the case of Gavin King, some people don’t know when to educate themselves before attempting to lecture the world via tabloid-style reporting, if I even dare elevate what King does to that meager height. The man seems dead-set on grasping his 15 minutes of fame. So be it. I’ll trump him.
This time Gavin King doesn’t just attack Sheik Yer’Mami by outing his identity. He’s already previously accomplished that particular sin. No, this time he attacks all of Sheik’s supporters (that would include me) and especially anyone that sent him an email (that would also include me). Apparently we are beneath contempt “anti-Muslim fanatics”, “Anglo-warriors” that “whip each other up into a frenzy of fear and hysteria”. My word! Mr. King missed his true calling — I do believe he’s a poet!
In fact, by the time you’re done reading the following scanned article from The Cairns Post, you’re going to feel insulted yourself, gentle reader. Here’s the latest ‘journalistic gem’ from Gavin King:

I just can’t get enough of this man’s idiocy and hubris now. Let me give you a quote from the above scan again, just to be sure you didn’t miss it, because these are icons of wisdom:
“The threat posed by isolated pockets of Muslim jihadists would be better tackled by a coalition of the willing which included moderate, mainstream Muslims.”
Yes, because so many ‘moderate’ Muslims are turning in bin Laden and his co-conspirators after 9-11 that he’s long been captured! Every day I read reports of ‘moderate’ Muslims issuing fatwas against terror and beheadings and suicide bombers. Every day — in my dreams! How is it that Gavin King is able to write his drivel wide awake? Now that’s a question for the ages.
I suppose it’s these ‘isolated pockets’ of jihadists that are tangling up the one remaining world superpower for over 5 years in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s these same ‘isolated pockets’ that are dragging the entire non-Muslim world into a firestorm of war that will “last generations”, which I have discussed just two weeks past in articles about the ‘Long War’ or what Ted Koppel termed ‘Our Children’s Children’s War’. Yes, this “tiny minority of extremists” sure does get around!
And if you listen to someone like Gavin King, I’m to be ignored. The United States Military Chiefs of Staff, too. Even Ted Koppel is a B-rate reporter next to Gavin King! We’re all ‘islamophobes’ and Mr. King is a truly enlightened individual set on bringing about world peace and prosperity through — osmosis, I guess?
Oh, but it gets better since I finally found a copy online of what appears to be the prelude to the outing of Sheik by Gavin King, the story that started this furor.
Federal police investigating anti-Muslim Cairns website

08Mar07
FEDERAL police are investigating an anti-Islamic website that calls on supporters across Australia to oppose a mosque planned for North Cairns.
The “Winds of Jihad” website, created by a Cairns man who calls himself Sheik Yer’Mami, includes instructions to “do whatever it takes to stop them (Muslims) from spreading their tentacles”.
It also urges opponents of a mosque being built at 31 Dunn St, opposite the Pioneer cemetery, to launch a public campaign against the development.
The Far North’s Muslim spiritual leader Imam Abdul Aziz labelled the website as “vulgar”, saying he contacted the Australian Federal Police yesterday to alert them to the website. He said the AFP was investigating the website because of its offensive and racist content.
Yes, because we all know by now that Muslim and race are interchangeable. CAIR sure would like us to believe that. They’d be able to win some lawsuits.
“Islam has been in Cairns for more than 100 years and we’ve been practising our faith at this address for six-and-a-half years,” Mr Aziz said.
“We don’t preach hatred or jihad against anybody. We’ve been a part of this community for a long time and all we’re interested in is preaching the word of God.
No, apparently what the local Cairns Muslims do do is call the police on their neighbors, to prove how harmless their Islamist intentions are. And to make sure an intrusive mosque and call to prayer tower get built, too. (Can’t forget that little tidbit.)
“I have contacted the federal police to alert them to this website and they told me they’ll look into it.
“We’ll leave this very vulgar website for the authorities to handle.”
An AFP spokeswoman yesterday said she was unable to comment on the matter.
The website urges opponents of the mosque to contact the Cairns City Council to raise concerns about planning issues such as parking, noise and negative impacts on tourism.
But it also warns: “A mosque in the area would, over time, attract many more adherents of the Muhammedan persuasion.
“It is more than likely that the area would gradually turn into a Muhammedan ghetto, a virtual no-go area.
“A ghetto where women are hijabbed or burka-clad and where aggressive, bearded men in Middle Eastern robes drive off other citizens, harass non-muslim citizens from coming through and prevent the police from doing their job.”
The website’s creator yesterday told The Cairns Post he had received more than 100 emails supporting his campaign.
He refused to be identified because he feared for his safety and would not comment further because “everything I have to say is on my website”.
The Winds of Jihab website describes Sheik Yer’Mami as an accomplished musician, songwriter and poet who lives in a tree hut “somewhere in the rainforest”, sometimes on a boat and other times on a crocodile farm in Northern Australia.
Public submissions to council objecting to the mosque development application close tomorrow.
Dunn St resident Ian Haynes, who is not connected to the anti-Islamic group or website, said the mosque would create traffic chaos in the narrow street and devalue the price of homes in the area.
“I’ve spent a lot of money renovating my house and if I’d known there was going to be a mosque there when I bought my place three years ago I would’ve thought twice about making an offer,” Mr Haynes said.
“The proposed height of the mosque worries me and it should stay low-key, the way it is now.”
Gavin King — ‘champion of the people’ — decides to take matters into his own hands after this article, I’ll wager. Yes, he gets the bright idea to do the work of the Australian Federal Police for them and find the true identity of Sheik Yer’Mami by betraying his trust and breaking decades of journalism tradition! Brilliant!
But wait a minute. There’s more to this story than meets the eye when I’m able to dig up this from an Australian Muslim forum. Read this carefully (emphasis added):
Actually there is a more sinister plot here. The Cairns Post is a Murdoch paper, and we read it and looked at the website and found it to be moronic, the editor thought it warranted front page news.
Also note in the story the bit about the new mosque planning application closed on Friday - just a reminder to the people of Cairns to get their disapproval letters in! So on the outset it looks like the Cairns Post was championing the rights of the Muslim community up there, however if you look at the undercurrent it is not the case.
On the other hand, the mosque shouldn’t be built there anyway - wrong place, and the property is not owned by the Cairns Islamic society but some privateers in the community and neighbouring community. So if anyone comes knocking looking for money - ask some seriously hard questions. Already fraud has taken place!
This is basically an admission from what we can presume is a Muslim in the Cairns community that the proposed mosque to be built is out of place and shouldn’t be built.
Is that the sound of the other shoe just dropping?
I think it’s time to send Gavin King more email!
Now before I wrap this up, I want to ask: “Who exactly is this Gavin King from The Cairns Post anyway, other than a betrayer of the trust of a man he attempted to interview?” Other than a rat-fink, dhimmi-fide self-promoter? Other than an ignorant of “true Islam” fool that seems intent on spreading more half-truths to his local community in order to allow the ‘crocodiles’ to eat him last. Let’s have a closer look, shall we?
Gavin King has at least once spent “twelve hours of his time” covering a story surrounding peace-nik windbag (and recent 2x only commentator here before getting himself banned) Bryan Law (ironic name, that). Here’s a link with some lovely photos of strange people in white coats. (And here I thought these types got taken away by people in white coats. The world is upside down, I tell you!)
For the first time in my experience, this action had participation from an ‘embedded’ journalist from the local News Limited paper, The Centralian Advocate. Gavin King made himself available to us for twelve hours from 5.30 pm the evening of 8 August, witnessed the preparations for our action, and went with one team to the outer perimeter fence of Pine Gap base in order to see how NVDA works.
His intention was to write a blow by blow account of our action, and we also offered him the photo of Adele Goldie atop the building she’d climbed with Jim, making a peace sign in front of antennae and radomes. After seeking legal opinion, News Ltd declined to publish the photo and ordered the destruction of all copies of the photo held by the Centralian Advocate. The Age similarly declined to publish, and the photo was finally published by the Canberra Times. Now it’s been published by the Alice Springs News, a weekly giveaway - in defiance of a direction from NT Police. It’s published on several sites on the internet.
All Gavin’s photos of our preparation were seized, along with his camera, by Commonwealth Police when they searched our group’s vehicle without warrant on Friday morning. They will probably be used as evidence against us, and may never be returned to the journalist who took them. For a time, Gavin was threatened with arrest. News Ltd is not going to publish the story Gavin had in mind. We’re hopeful it may eventually emerge in an independent magazine.

Are you starting to get the ‘picture’ of what kind of reporter Gavin King is? ‘Liberal Media’ and Far Left protesters arm-in-arm with Islamists. That ringing any bells for my readers? Let me point you in the right direction just to be sure:
At this point I’m done. The bell has sounded and I’m being pointed towards my corner, so until next time, Gavin King, here’s me rubbing your nose in the truth again, dhimmi betrayer. It’s about time you started understanding the difference between bigotry and awareness, education and ignorance and, above all, that breaking your word is the surest sign of a weak character and an even more rotten journalist.
UPDATE: I have come to find out that Gavin King did not even succeed in completing his interview with Sheik Yer’Mami. Sheik’s personal information was gotten over the phone by King prior to an actual interview began and in Sheik’s own words:
7 Comments“He [Gavin King] never met me face to face. I had him on the phone once and I smelled a rat and hung up. He accused me of vilifying Muslims and I said ‘if you’re looking for a fall-guy or a sacrificial lamb for your PC bull*** you’ve got the wrong guy’ — that’s all. No more than that.”
