When corporate greed goes too far (hat-tip: Glugzy):
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - The distillers of Sweden’s Absolut vodka have withdrawn an advertisement run in Mexico that angered many U.S. citizens by idealizing an early 19th century map showing chunks of the United States as Mexican.
The billboard ad has the slogan “In an Absolut World” slapped over a pre-1848 map showing California, Arizona and other U.S. states as Mexican territory. Those states were carved out of what had been Mexican lands until that year.

in News, Israel and Syria.

I came across the following report when I was perusing Atlas Shrugs:
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - An Israeli newspaper said on Friday that Israel has toldSyria it is prepared to withdraw from the Golan Heights in return for lasting peace, adding to growing signals that Israel is looking to resume negotiations.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said Prime Minister Ehud Olmert had sent messages through foreign envoys to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that Israel is ready to “fulfill its part” in a peace deal, even if it means giving up the strategic Golan Heights, captured in the Six Day War of June 1967.

in News, Iran, Israel, Nuclear Threats and North Korea.
This story falls into the “I told you so” category. From Reuters:
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Iran has received a first shipment of missiles from North Korea that are capable of reaching Europe, Israel’s military intelligence chief was quoted on Thursday as saying.
Known in the West as BM-25s, the Russian-designed missiles have a range of around 1,500 miles, giving them a longer reach than the Iranian-made Shihab-4 missiles which are capable of hitting Israel.
Breaking Reuters report just substantiates the building theme this month which seems to be - trust no one who worships Allah:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Two men suspected of being involved with an al Qaeda affiliate were arrested in Albany, New York, on Thursday in a scheme to launder money to buy a shoulder-fired missile, U.S. law enforcement sources said.
The sources said the arrests on Thursday night were unrelated to the raising of the terror threat level over the weekend on intelligence that al Qaeda was targeting financial centers in the United States.
The chatter abounds with reference to possible major Islamic terrorism striking the United States before year’s end. From Reuters comes this report, which comes at the same time as similar reports have been seen in the NY Times:
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Top federal and local law enforcement officials met in New York during the weekend to discuss new intelligence about a possible al Qaeda attack against major corporations or high-profile buildings in Manhattan, a police source said on Sunday.
Well, here we go once more: too much of the United Nations is fueled by anti-Semitism and pro-Islamist sentiment. It’s absolutely insane.
The United States should remove itself from the UN. I am increasingly perplexed at what we have to gain by continued membership. It is a tremendous money pit for our tax paying citizenry and we rarely benefit from any of its decisions.
