How stupid are we? I’m being serious. How stupid are we? Stock brokers and investors are actually excited by the following news. I am anything but excited. I see this as just another move by the Arab-Muslim world to replace our need for oil with another form of economic dominance. We greedily play right into the hands of the sheiks.
We are stupid.
From NEWS.com.au Business:
US stock markets rebounded strongly overnight after banking giant Citigroup said it would gain a $US7.5 billion ($8.6 billion) injection from a United Arab Emirates investment fund.
Today yet another so-called Mideast Peace Summit begins. It’s been a few years since a U.S. President has attempted to see something like this through, but it hasn’t been long enough that I have forgotten the previous results and so I will go out on a limb here today *coughs* and predict the outcome.
Nothing good.
Intel’s strongest computer chip rival, AMD, has now had over 8% of its stock purchased by a company out of the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. I take especial displeasure and interest in this incident because I personally own AMD stock. While I am not yet quite ready to put AMD onto the Boycott Islam list, I am definitely close to doing so. I will be making my anger known to AMD this coming week in a couple of personal emails and if I sense that even more of AMD will be going to Muslim interests, I will be selling my stock and submitting AMD to the list.
The big thing that the liberal establishment, and (unfortunately) plenty of conservatives and middle-grounders, don’t understand about Islam is this: the only reason we don’t, as a majority, view Islam yet as an enemy, is because a few hundred years passed where the might of Europe suddenly advanced so quickly and surprisingly due to the advent of gunpowder and other military technologies, that the Caliphate had to play the possum. This really first started when Napoleon sailed into the harbors of Egypt. And, even more importantly, up until the First World War, the Middle East was fairly hidden from the rest of the world and vice versa. Sure, information could flow, but very slowly. And the Caliphate and the Arabs made some very bad alliances that further weakened the power of Islam and eventually lead to the crumbling of the Caliphate itself. And it is the Caliphate that gives the orders to strike offensively for jihad and Islam, so without it, they have been a snake without a head.

in Jihad, Iraq and Islam.
This first July issue of Time magazine includes a revealing article about the jihadists in Iraq, mainly holding the town of Fallujah in their grip. The article gets most things right, but its basics show that the same basic misconceptions abound in Western media. The article is titled “Meet the New Jihad” — well, I’ve got news for Time magazine — there is nothing new about jihad. Jihad has been around since Muhammad first created the concept (7th century) and it has been waged against anyone outside the bounds of Islam since that time. It has been a constant threat that has at several points in history dominated vast sections of the globe, as with the rise of the Ottoman Empire under the Turks. Only the brashness of Europeans, mixed in with some superior gunpowder technology, kept Islam’s aggressive incursions in check.
