Congressional call for Iranian Revolutionary Guards to be designated “terrorists” is a weak move

From Agence France-Presse:

WASHINGTON — The US Senate has called for Iran’s Revolutionary Guards to be officially designated a “foreign terrorist organisation,” a day after the House of Representatives passed a similar measure.

The Senate on Wednesday voted 76-22 for the non-binding amendment sponsored by Republican Jon Kyl and independent Joseph Lieberman to place the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, or Pasdaran, on the US terrorist blacklist.

You might expect that I would be happy about this move.

Europe and the West in Denial

The Little Mermaid in burqaToday I present an article from author Melanie Phillips which was recently published by National Review (hat-tip: Gramfan). This is important reading, so I am cross-posting it in full. I encourage you to read it all, especially if you live in Europe or have any compassion for the plight of Europeans at all. In my view the very same things discussed by Phillips apply to Australia and the United States and Canada, too, but just to a lesser extent because of our relative isolation from the immediate threat from Islamism for now. I have taken the liberty of adding emphasis to items that I believe to be of particular importance.

Gingrich labels war on terror ‘phony’

Newt GingrichA recent story in the Atlanta Journal Constitution reminded me of a brief interview I saw with Newt a day ago. There are important messages here from Gingrich. Pay close attention and read between the lines:

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Thursday the Bush administration is waging a “phony war” on terrorism, warning that the country is losing ground against the kind of Islamic radicals who attacked the country on Sept. 11, 2001.

Wackademia Alert: Michigan Daily

Here’s an excerpt from an article that was brought to my attention this morning (hat-tip: Terp Mole) from the University of Michigan’s Michigan Daily:

When we fight a war to eliminate an Islamic fundamentalist insurgency, while we claim to not be waging a war on Islam, naturally some people are confused. We ascribed political meaning to the term, and that has consequences.

We must learn to refer to a terrorist as a terrorist and nothing more. As President Bush repeatedly preaches, Islam is a religion of peace. We must cease equating terrorists with members of a peaceful religion, unless we truly want to cause a tenth crusade.

35% of Democrats believe George W. had prior knowledge of 9-11

Rosie O'Donnell - Queen of Talk Show anti-American propaganda
Being a registered Independent, I have no party affiliation in the United States, but it’s obvious I lean to the Right and not the Left on most subjects. If it isn’t obvious why, then the folks over at Little Green Footballs posted a survey result that should make things clearer. LGF: 35% of Democrats Are Truthers:

If you need more evidence than a quick look at any left-wing blog that the Democrat Party has become the party of derangement, denial, conspiracy theories and blind hatred, a new Rasmussen poll shows that 35% of Democrats believe Bush knew about the 9/11 attacks in advance.

Iran shrugs off potential talks with U.S. and who could blame them?

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with a Koran
So, while everyone seems asleep at the wheel or intent on appeasement and accessing negotiations and the possibility of the possibility of negotiations with the likes of Iran (and now Syria againthank Nancy Pelosi for starting that new trend), nuclear materials are missing in Pakistan and more critical time slips by. Each day brings us that much closer to the Iranians having the means to own and then proliferate working nuclear tech to its Muslim neighbors and, worst of all, putting actual nuclear weaponry or dirty bombs into the hands of Islamic terrorist front-groups that wish to do harm to Western nations and especially Israel and the United States of America.

Am I ruining your breakfast or lunch with this straight talk? Would you prefer picking up a newspaper with the headline ‘CHICAGO GONE’, instead? ‘D.C. UNDER A MUSHROOM CLOUD’, perhaps?

Or how about ‘EASTERN POWER GRID OFFLINE FOR A MONTH DUE TO EMP BLAST’. Is that idea a new one to you? Not to me.

From the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Homeland Security, on the electromagnetic pulse, or EMP, threat:

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack on the American homeland, said one of the distinguished scientists who testified at the hearing, is one of only a few ways that the United States could be defeated by its enemies – terrorist or otherwise,” wrote Kyl “And it is probably the easiest. A single Scud missile, carrying a single nuclear weapon, detonated at the appropriate altitude, would interact with the Earth’s atmosphere, producing an electromagnetic pulse radiating down to the surface at the speed of light. Depending on the location and size of the blast, the effect would be to knock out already stressed power grids and other electrical systems across much or even all of the continental United States, for months if not years.”

If we don’t find the stomach and the cajones to do what needs to be done with the mad regime in Iran and against its nuclear ambitions, damn us all for spineless cowards and fools.

Reuters reports (hat tip - Sheila):

May 2, 2007 — TEHRAN - Iran will not negotiate with the United States until it stops its “evil approach,” the government spokesman was quoted as saying yesterday, two days before the countries were due to attend a meeting on Iraq.

U.S. officials say Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is ready to talk with Iran on the sidelines of the conference in Egypt that starts tomorrow, if such contact is deemed useful.

But Iran appeared to dismiss the possibility of bilateral discussions at the meeting in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, which is aimed at seeking ways to end the violence in Iraq and will be attended by major powers and Baghdad’s neighbors.

Iran and the United States have not had diplomatic ties for nearly three decades and are sharply at odds over the conflict in Iraq and Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

Asked if Rice and Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki may hold talks in Egypt, his deputy Mahdi Mostafavi said, according to the ISNA news agency: “No, so far the necessary situation for talks and negotiations is not ready.”

When will it be “the necessary situation” Ms. Rice? After the Iranians have nuclear bombs?

Government spokesman Gholamhossein Elham suggested Washington wanted to talk to Tehran because of its problems in Iraq and a realization Iran was a growing regional power.

Iran’s Islamic leadership has no reason to be anything but confident. They’re guiding the hands that are murdering American and Allied soldiers in Iraq, they’re in position to swoop in when the Democrats get their way and force us to leave prematurely and with our tails between our legs. Ahmadinejad can then claim a great victory for Islam against the Great Satan and at the same time bring Iraq (and its much needed oil) into the fold, and then the real fun begins. Since the Iranians know they can get away with kidnapping British soldiers and blowing up American ones, once they have nukes to extort with, we’ll be looking back on these times with sad fondness as the “good ole days” before Iran had the ‘Islamic Bomb’.

Mark my words.

UPDATE: Rice meets with Syrian counterpart

Media coverage of Sheikh Gilani Lane furor

Here is a follow-up video to my foehammer.net/2007/02/jihad-in-vi...heik-gilani-lane-proposal.html\">previous post about the Charlotte County, Virginia protests surrounding the naming of a street after a known Islamic terror supporter (hat tip: John Smith):

More here

And here

I’d like you to note how indifferent the police and the politicians seem to be to the entire affair in these news clips. The dhimmi Christians that counter-protest are also cause for annoyance. I do not believe in pacifism.

Muslim Charities: Terrorists’ Piggybanks

A FrontPage article by Daniel Pipes goes into detail about the dangers posed by Muslim charities which are actually fronts for terrorist funding:

Counterterrorism efforts got a major boost last week when a U.S. district court found three Muslim organizations and one individual, mostly based in the Chicago area, guilty of funding Hamas and fined them an astonishing $156 million (U.S.)….

Third, as the Boims’ lawyer, Stephen J. Landes explains, it shows that “the American court system is prepared to bankrupt the Islamist terror network,” just as it earlier destroyed the Ku Klux Klan and the Aryan Nations, two extremist and violent organizations, “by bringing unpayably large judgments against them.”

U.S. Officials: How to Stop Terrorist Takeover of Schools

We continue to hear the word “terrorist” over and over in the media and from our government. This “minority” issue with Islam, as it is also labeled, sure seems to be snowballing out of control when the U.S. government is now warning our police how to attempt to stop school massacres from happening here on American soil as they already have over in Russia. For such a “minority”, the jihadists behind all the beheadings and child murders and suicide bombings seem to have no end of volunteers. Now, why is that?

Iraq Evidence Led Feds to Albany Mosque

Well, what will the Left have to say now, I wonder? More spin? I don’t know how they can spin their way around this FOX News report:

ALBANY, N.Y. - Information found in Iraq led federal investigators to become suspicious of an Albany, N.Y., mosque leader, FOX News has learned.

Last summer, U.S. troops discovered Yassin Muhhiddin Aref’s name, telephone number and address in a book left behind in a vacated terrorist training camp, a U.S. official told FOX News. The book also revealed that Ansar al-Islam, the group running the camp, had given Aref a title: “the commander.”

Protect the Right of Israel to National Defense

News hot off the presses:

Report: U.N. Court Rules Israeli Wall Illegal

THE HAGUE, Netherlands - The U.N.’s highest judicial authority decided that the 425-mile-long barrier Israel is building in the West Bank in response to Palestinian suicide bombings violates international law and must be dismantled, an Israeli newspaper reported Friday.

I am calling for a United States veto of any attempt by the U.N. to halt the Israeli wall construction. The terrorist criminal Yassar Arafat has caused enough death and strife.

Slam the Door on IANA Website

Thanks to Jihadwatch for the following heads-up about a very important FrontPage story:

Al-Hussayen, a Saudi national, was charged with using the website of the Islamic Assembly of North America (IANA) to promote terrorism. Specifically, Al-Hussayen, was charged with two counts of conspiracy to support terrorism, one count of providing material support to terror groups and eleven counts of visa and immigration fraud.

Among the messages posted by Al-Hussayen to the websites were four fatwas, or religious edicts blessing suicide missions. One specifically mentioned a kamikaze type mission using an airplane. This was prior to 9-11.
